That's true about them being different individuals. At one point in a child's development they are going to need to foster their own identity and giving them identical names doesn't help them. XD perhaps the parents ran out of creativity and wasn't prepared to have twins so they only thought of one name? XD or maybe its because they are into the cliche of having the same stuff for twins all the time? I know people who do that, they give their twins the same clothes. Or maybe having almost identical names can minimize the chances of having getting who is who wrong? Haha. Either way, the benefits arent for the twins at all, just for the people around them cause they'll think it's cute. ;)

No I wouldn't name them anything that sounded the same or close to it. I may have them both start their name with the same letter but not sounding anything alike. They need to be individuals like you said. I also think it makes it harder for others when the name is so close to distinguish one from the other.

I will give them different names.
Maybe with a little similarity or same first alphabet.
I have twin cousins who are named Arvin and Ariel- Sofia and Arsenia.
Giving twins almost the same name may sounds confusing and imagine calling them "Lea and Ahlea" what would be their nickname...both Lea, or call the other one...Ah?

No I would not I also would not dress them the same plus might be I would even take them to different schools so both are able to develop themselves the way they like. I agree with you that they are individuals and they both deserve a chance to develop themselves. In many cases one of the twins is the leader the other one is the follower and always in the shadow of..

I wouldn't name them similar. I think it's corny to name them rhyming similar names.

I would give them different names. I agree that it is important to treat twins as individuals. I might dress them alike because my mother dressed me and my sister, who is a year younger than me, alike. I wore the blue color and she wore the pink color of the same dress design.
Perhaps I might name my twins with names that each have the same number of letters in their names. Iea and Alea sound too close together as they almost sound the same. It would just seem a little confusing.
I think it is great when twins get along and are friends and they want to do things together or do the same things. But they also need their own identity and to develop their own interests and personality.
