Back I go again..

I worked 11 months in the same bank, and one day out of the blue I was told they needed to transfer me to a different bank as my original one didn't have the hours to give me anymore. But, losing me left them short handed so I did need to cover there the week of Christmas.
So I've been in my new bank for a month, minus the week of Christmas, and minus 1 day where I helped out at another bank.
This morning I show up to work, and the manager needs to speak with me. She says one of the girls at my original bank is "no longer with the company".. in other words she was fired, and honestly I knew it was coming based on things I previously knew and overheard during the week of Christmas.
As of Monday I'm back at my original bank. I wonder how long it will last this time.

I couldn't determine from your post if you're happy or not going back to your original branch. In any case, I guess you'd have familiarity going for you. You wouldn't have to re-adjust again going to another branch.
Maybe if they hire another girl, they'd send you off again?

They won't hire anyone else. They wanted me back from the moment they had to send me off. They only sent me off because the branch lost hours because they're so slow. Instead of letting anyone go, they just moved me.. but the manager said she'd find a way to get me back somehow. They're not going to hire someone to replace me as they want to keep me. I'm thinking though in time they'll lose more hours, or possibly be closed all together.
Right now I'm really not happy about it, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. Plus I'm still looking for other work so keep your fingers crossed.

That's ridiculous that they can transfer you back & forth as they please. It's a big inconvenience to you I'm sure. Well I hope for your sake that they leave you be now & not transfer you somewhere else on a whim. Are you happy to be going back? If you are then I'm happy for you.

I'd prefer to stay where I was, now that I'm used to it.

This must be pretty frustrating being moved around all the time like this and I am sure it keeps you on your toes afraid to make even the slightest mistake. All I can say is glad they are wanting you back, and wishing you all the best.

I do feel more job security due to my flexibility. If they have to do lay offs I might not be the first to go since they see that I am flexible and they can use me anywhere. I wish I didn't have to go back though, I loved the new bank.

Bouncing from bank to bank? WHY DO YOU THINK I GAVE UP SAILING?
(You know the principle: The bigger the lie, the louder you have to shout it. But I really didn't find sailing that rewarding, so I never went on another sailing holiday. Or skiing, for that matter)

Your flexibility keeps you very employable. I hope you do not mind all of these moves. I suppose the changes are never boring. You should get extra pay for being so very versatile. Hang in there.

Hmmm..... I wonder why they couldn't have just fired her from the start, and kept you on. It would have saved you some stress. I guess some people just can't think logically. I hope that you get to stay at your old bank, and that there will be no more problems.

Your laws are probably the same.. but companies here try very hard not to fire people without lots of paperwork, otherwise the person can go for unemployment and companies want to avoid paying that.
Overall she wasn't a bad employee, she was with the company 25 years, but she made a couple of big mistakes that couldn't be overlooked, the most recent was just before Christmas, after I'd already been moved.

It must be confusing getting bounced around like that, I really hope everything works out for you and you're able to adjust and fit right back into the swing of things. Also hoping they get a little more organized and stop shifting you around!

The only thing that stays constant is change. My original banking center is the slowest in the district.. which is why they lost the hours and had to lose me in the first place. I knew eventually I'd end up going back as some of the folks there are nearing retirement age.. I was just hoping I wouldn't go back quite so soon.

Hm, well at least they like you, and you will have employment at one branch or the other (if you want it).

That's the problem though.. I was running into problems at the old bank as they're a lot pickier about little things. My new bank I hadn't heard of any problems but at the old bank I had problems almost daily. I'm worried that going back to the pickier bank, I'm going to end up getting fired before long.

why not let the manager at the new bank know that you really like it there, and see if you can get back in there eventually...

If she could control it she wouldn't let me go. She actually told me they were "devastated" that I had to go back. Everybody there is. But it's out of their control, and out of mine also.

Well it's a good thing right? You like the original bank? Hopefully it will last a lot longer this time then it did last, after all you are replacing someone basically.

Does this make you happyor did you like the new bank better? I think though, that the bank values your service very much as you were the one chosen. It must be difficult for you though. I do hope that you are happy with the change

I really liked the new bank. The only real drawback was that I had to work Saturdays.. but that won't change. I am still at the new bank Saturdays till at least the end of next month.
I guess we'll see how things go.

So, how did you find your work at the new bank, my friend.
Well, at least now you know that you are indispensable to the bank, that's why they have to recall you from the new branch.
Keep up the good work, so you will last in your bank, my friend.
