Breaking A Vicious Habit...Smoking

The mind desirous of seeking vicarious enjoyment and pleasure dwells itself on unnatural habits like smoking,drinking etc. The habit is definitely an unnatural instinct. Smoking does not offer full solace to a disturbed mind. On the other hand it destroys the tranquility of sound minds.Temporary relief carries one to serious health concerns.Young people should root out this habit in order to keep themselves hale and hearty. Anyone could crush to pieces a seed with one's palm..but how could one hope to uproot a huge tree with bare hands? Bad habits hence require to be nipped in the bud.

Ive never smoked, but my dad quit after over 23 years of it. I know it was hard for him. he smoked 2-3 packs a day at one time. He quit after, he finally said to himself he needed to.

I`m glad he did. I quit too. But we have to be very supportive with smoker who try to quit. They don`t always make it at the first attemp as it is NOT a habit, but and addiction.

I am a smoker for 4 years. And I am addicted to it. My girlfriend told me to stop, but I can't stop it.

Smoking should be avoided especially if you are just starting on it. Its really not good for the health and it may ruin your life, your behavior and the people around you might get influence as well..

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Yes u are absolutely right, many people feel that if they smoke then they can get rid of tensions and stress in life but the reality is something different. Smoking kills slowly and it has never spared anyone. I have seen a documentary of a chain smoker who is now diagnosed with a serious lung and throat cancer so much so that he had to leave smoking instantaneously and now campaigning against smoking. What say?

You need to break bad habits, eliminating bad habits is not easy. But it's also not as difficult as we imagine. The problem is that we sometimes do not really believe a bad habit can be removed and suspended forever in us. To get rid of bad habits, we must first believe that we are not person who have a bad habit like that. Logically, when we believe that we are is a bad habit, then we will think "that's me! if I try to eliminate the bad habits that then I would not be myself! I can not! " Well, bad habits because we have a bad habit of connecting it with pleasure that we will get. Such as smoking. All smokers, certainly more likely to think of the pleasure of smoking. Not suffering. Well, to eliminate the bad habit of smoking or any other bad habit plug it with pain and suffering like if I continue to smoke I may get lung cancer someday, this will motivate you to stop that bad habit.

You are right. Deep words, wow! Excellent! Have you written poems yet? So young people should be guided by their parents so that they won't enter to those habits. They say, if you are a smoker, then your father is a smoker. Our parents are our first teacher that is why if parents teach this to their children, there is less possibility that they will enter smoking.
