I have to work weekends in the summer because the museum is open but we are closed over the winter. I still have yet to have a weekend off and we closed the first weekend of October. Seems there is always something that comes up. Roofing, water leak, volunteers want something, showing for a wedding. Grrrr. Getting tired of not having any days off and spending all my time at work when my daughter is off of school. I never get quality family time anymore.

I also don’t like weekend work; however there are some circumstances that we don’t have no choice but to conform them.
Although it is sometimes a bulk in our daily routine but we have to suck it up because it does give us good add-on in terms of money.

I love working weekends here, because business is good and many of my friends are off so they stop by to say hello.

Fortunately for my husband and I, we don't have a situation that would allow us to be on a schedule. We don't have family in the city, and we don't have kids so if we are needed on a weekend, that's fine with us. The only time we don't want to go anywhere are on Sunday afternoons when we listen to our favourite radio shows together. However, any time, any day, anywhere else is fine with us. I understand where you're coming from though, with family around.

I work 1 weekend a month and it's only for half a day. But sometimes I pick up overtime with my 2nd job and work weekends for them. If your tired of working weekends just say something to your boss. Can't your request days off with your job? Were allowed to request days off so I do once in awhile just to get a break from the place. Good luck and I hope your job slows down a bit for the summer time arrives.

I knew it is hard for a person who has a family. I, on the other hand, I am still single, even though I have my own plan for the weekend, but for the money sake, I just have to cancel all of my plan, and go for the work. I got plan for this Sunday, but since the manager from my part - time job ask me to cover her over the weekend, I just have to say "yes". On the bright side, I can still make some extra money on the day I suppose off, instead of spending that money.

Well you just need to think that your museum will closed over the winter then I think you will feel much more happy now,and usually working in the weekend will get double even triple income, right?

It is uncomfortable to work when other people can have a rest.
Last week, there was a heavy snow in my city, so many schools stopped their class to keep their students safe. But as a teacher in the college, I can not have a breakup, students wanted to find their teacher help them before test. So I had to work 8 days without relaxing. I was hurt on the first day, for the heavy snow, I can not brake my bike well.

I also don't like working on weekends because like you, I want to spend it with family and getting things done in our house. But sometimes, there were instances that we have no choice but to report for work on weekends but I always make it known to my boss that it can't happen often and that we will be paid for that extra working day or if not, we can get it offset or traded with another day of the week as our time off.

me too! For me weekends are family day and resting day. This is the time you can bond with your family and friends.
