I was there playing game in the night. The light wasn't turn on in the house, because that is the best environment to really enjoy gaming. I guess he just lie there waiting for his time to strike.
I don't know what told me to look down but I just did and there he was behind my foot. About to strike I flew up as fast as possible. But he hardly moved. I move to go for a shoe and he was crawling slowly as possible, but I know their potential to move extra fast. I slapped him with a shoe and there he was spread out and unmovable.
To be honest I didn't even know scorpions existed in Jamaica until I first started to see them in my home. Since I have lived here, I have seen a lot and I am scared out of my witts to know that they could sting me in my sleep. Anything is possible.
I took a picture of the scorpion. Take a look at him.

You forgot to attach the picture! I do that, too.
When I lived in the desert we had scorpions and all kinds of harmful things. I got stung by one once and got sleepy, took a nap, and that was that. Most scorpions aren't poisonous to humans, or at least the venom won't hurt you. It just stings like heck!
I used to have to shake my shoes in the morning or if they had sat for awhile. It did not matter if I put them on a shelf because scorpions are good climbers.
It's easy for scorpions to get into your house, they can squeeze into the such small spaces. Keep your bed away from the wall, that's about all you can do. The good news is that scorpions generally avoid humans if at all possible. Don't worry so much about them crawling into your bed because they can smell you and want to stay away.
I'm sorry you have this worry. Try to plug up all the nooks and crannies that you can find around windows, floors and ceilings.

Thank you for the info because I'd always thought scorpions were deadly! There aren't any where I live but I've traveled to places where they are so it's comforting I'm not going to get murdered in my sleep by a creepy crawler the next time I'm om vacation!

Annie, there are deadly scorpions but I doubt you'll ever see one. The black ones are generally the troublesome ones but the common brown ones are just irritating. Stay away from woodpiles and piles of cactus skeletons and you should be fine!

Fire ant sting and scorpion sting are closely related, even though the animals aren't.
I got stung by the scorpion in late July and then the following March I got stung by 3 fire ants in the same spot and my foot got as swollen from the fire ants as the scorpion.
And my allergist - 15 years later - wanted to know if I ever had trouble breathing after being stung by ants.

Ouch!
Weird that now it made you allergic to ants though?

When I was 11 we moved into a new, just built, house in my home town in Texas. We had scorpions showing up for quite some time after that. One night someone left a glass out on the sink in the kitchen after getting some water and the next morning there was a scorpion in it. My sister went to go to bed one night and there was one on her bed; my dad got stung by it under his thumb nail when he was catching it. But the one that came close to me was one night when I got back out of bed because my parents were laughing so hard at something on the TV and I went in to watch also and was wearing my pajamas. After about 30 minutes, I felt something tickling the hair on my leg and almost without looking I leaned down swiped at my leg and knocked a scorpion off that had been crawling up my leg. I wasn't stung though. Fortunately they quit showing up in the house after maybe a year or two; I don't remember for sure.

Wow that one that was on your leg went so close to getting you to be his victim. My brother got stung by one before and he cried so long I felt sorry for him. Like I said the first time I ever saw one before is since I ever moved into this house 5 years ago. They were more common when I just moved in, usually saw one at least every two days. Now I see them every two weeks and sometime it reach months until I have seen one. I have waked up to see one on my wall beside my bed. That one was really frightening. I ran to turn on the light, while staring at it and it still stayed one place. As soon as I turned my head and press the light switch, the scorpion disappeared. With no idea where it went, I decided to not continue my sleep in that bed. And I went into the living room and sleep on one of the chairs.

I don't see any picture.
My girlfriend was living in Oklahoma with a new baby years ago now. She blindly reached in to the closest to get a diaper off the shelf and touched something weird. She looked in and it was a scorpion.
They quite often travel with a one or two others. Ugh!

Wow. What if it was on the diaper and as she was putting it on the baby it stung him/her. I am so happy she noticed it from before. babies aren't as strong as grown ups.
Sorry I accidentally forgot to post the pic so I uploaded it under the first responder. Sorry about that. Take a look at it there.

Wow this is so scary!
You were lucky to look down when you did. I am so glad you did so you weren't struck by a scorpion. I don't know maybe you should get some traps or somethign? Do they make those?! I have no idea, just thinking aloud!

I have never heard of traps for scorpions before. We just kill them and hopefully before they have babies. You should see the babies, they are as small as ants. You have to really look at them to see the tail.
Sometimes I feel somebody or something is watching over me.

How do you actually catch a scorpion other than just taken it up with your hand. Wait, stop that, how can I actually set a trap to actually kill them without my presence in the house. I am unaware of any traps with that ability. I doubt a mouse trap would work, some of these scorpions are very light, plus I have no clue what a scorpion eats. Why would he want to go on a mouse trap anyway. I have many mouse glue traps in my house, and never had one caught a scorpion. SO I guess there would have to be some other way to catch them.

Yeah for sure after an experience like that you might start to wonder.
Well maybe not specifically for scorpions.. I was thinking maybe like mouse traps for a make shift trap. Just a thought though.

:O scorpions!!! ZOMG!! The closest I've ever been to a scorpion is when I read about them in a book, but since then I've always not liked them. Cause in the book I read, it stung a baby and the baby it so sick and had convulsions and was almost dying but no one wanted to help them because they were poor and yes the book's title is "the pearl" by John Steinbeck. Hah, I'm out of context again. Sorry about that.
Scorpions are insects right? Maybe the conventional "off" lotion works for them too? Or maybe put a sign in your room saying "no scorpions allowed." maybe they'd knock first, at least you'd be polite shooing them away. :|.. Hmm.. I know, why don't you breed something that eats the scorpions and keep it as pet... Whatever animal that is, I'm sure it'd be cool. It might even get on tv, you know the "worlds weirdest pets" omg! That would be so awesome. :D

Yeah I know fear factor, too bad you can't keep them as pets. :( and they wouldn't do a good job keeping all the scorpions away, I just mylotted what eats scorpions for you. It says lizards eat scorpions, pretty cool huh. :D

Oh uh, that's scary.
I saw scopions in real and though they are small- their looks is scary enough.
The black color , two claws and the poisonous tail scared me a lot.
Thanks that you were able to escape from it's sting...take extra care.

This one wasn't the black one though. It was the brown one. My brother got stung by one last year. My little brother and he cried so hard. I took a picture of the scorpion. It is under the first responder. I accidentally forgot to upload it on the main post. Sorry about that.
