Why Should I "Submit-Crash Reports & -Performance Data"?

In the 'Analysis'-section of the 'General'-tab of the 'Advanced'-page of the 'Options'-island from the 'Tools'-menu (in the browser's top menu-bar), two of the options you can choose to activate are "Submit Crash Reports" & "Submit Performance Data."
I imagine submitting such reports would help Firefox-programmers modify the next version of Firefox to avoid such errors, but Who gets the 'submitted' information? and What is the submitted information?
And--in short--is it WORTH IT to spend the time 'submitting' to (possibly) improve future-performance?

Located under the Help menu, they also have an option to submit feedback which I have few times because it only requires me to report in my own words how I feel about the product and what problems its giving.
I'm not too comfortable with the other options "submit crash reports and "submit performance data" because I can't see what is being sent to them. Yeah I'm paranoid.

I'm with you there, but I don't call it "being paranoid" so much as 'knowing that people are naturally stupid/greedy'

The information submitted is usually crashes, bug reports and any problems that the program ran into while running such as using too much memory or something. It's very helpful for programmers to get this type of feedback especially if the bug is a security flaw which could lead to massive viruses effecting the web browser in the future. It's not really "worth" for you because the bug reports rarely help you out, it's for the programmers. It's a nice way to give back but you don't really need to do it.
