Shouldn't Lady Gaga Write New Music More-Often?

Because that's the main thing I liked about her music (aside from its carnal deliciousness ... the comfy bass-foundation, the sparkley melodies)---that it was new ... remembering that enough new stuff makes the old stuff new again. Or is she just another lazy genius, floating lazily on the flood of good stuff the world gives to her? ... oh whoops! That's what I get for just going to LadyGagaNet's news (http://www.ladygaga.net/news) rather than LadyGagaNOW (http://ladygaganow.net/?p=9666) ... silly me ... There I find out that Lady Gaga is releasing "ARTPOP" in 2013---an album that (according to Lady's letter to LadyGagaNow) is going to be a fuller media-experience ... like a similar media-thing by Bj(o)rk. Why doesn't ladygaga.com have much to say about that (as--although it was announced a little while ago--it IS the newest thing on the pipe!)

totally agree. her music is just derivative pop crap. basically all about production and less about songwriting. mainly popular because of her outrageous image. plus born this way was a total madonna copy. still don't know how she didn't get sued for that one.

Yeah, but she's fun to watch (and Madonna's getting a little crusty-rusty; wasn't it about-time for a new one?)

Uh welp, I don't keep up with her, but I'm sure in due time she'll release something. I'm always wondering the same about my own favorite musicians. Wishing that they 'd come out with a new album already because they seem like to let years pass by before they do anything again. They must enjoy keeping us all in suspense. On the other hand, it would probably get very boring if they didn't do things that way.

But I think such artists have a responsibility to serve as a good example for the non-artist community---constantly producing new content. Is that so industrialist to make me seem like a greedy factory-worker?

And doesn't any media-piece (blog, webpage, news-rag, whatever) come with the responsibility to either be up-to-date or to destroy it?

I follow her on Facebook. I saw her update there about Artpop. Within an hour I saw the new myLot discussion notification in my email, which was this discussion specifically. I didn't think she was lazy or anything even before. She made her own name by being herself and if Madonna thinks LG is a copycat, I don't really think so. Unlike Madonna, Lady Gaga pens most of her own songs.

I heard that--on her last three albums--she only wrote two of the songs. But she wrote/has-written many songs for other artists, and is an incredibly classical pianist and many other types of music on other instruments as well

I don't really think it's an indicator of someone's hardworkingness in music that they release new material out in no time. Sometimes, you have to work on your material for years to make it perfect. Some of the stars now who are putting out a new album year by year... you can see on their music's quality how rushed and only for media and being in the limelight all that stuff is (especially the "B side" kind of stuff)... if someone takes time, it doesn't mean they are lazy... at least she makes her own music, unlike Katy Perry or Rihanna, for example...
