On our way to our work this morning, I saw a sign board about the provincial proclamation in banning the use of plastic in the entire province. I also heard that the said ordinance was already signed last year of july but they waited for the implementing rules and regulations to be released before the full implementation. At last, last month, the implementing rules and regulations has been released and the provincial government is giving 15 days adjustment period.
I was really happy hearing this news. I just hope they will implement the said ordinance strictly for the benefit of many.
Good day Mylotters!

Nice, that's very nice to hear. It is the same here in Cavite too. I mean at least around Bacoor and Imus area. It's all paper bags. Of course it's not that beneficial with me because I needed the bag for my trash but since I know it is beneficial for all of us if we could lessen the use of plastic then I don't mind carrying with me a reusable bag whenever I do grocery shopping.
Happy mylotting as well.

Going to market, I used to bring eco-bag or reusable bag and when the thing I am buying can be directly placed in the bag, I just told the vendor not to place in plastic anymore and I just put it in my bag.
Just like yours, we used the plastic bags for garbage. This ordinance will make the citizen segregate their trashes too.
I just hope it will be strictly implemented in every household for it will make a big impact in the province if every household participates in the said ordinance.

I think people are not that use to comply with the segregation ordinance because they see that the garbage collectors are just combining their segregated garbage in the truck during collection day. Maybe one thing they can do with this is to have separate days for collecting plastics and rubbish.

I'm not used of bringing with me any bags when going to the market because I know they have plastics bags there. But now.. I need to bring and eco-bag or else I'll be carrying my goods with my hands and it's not a good thing. hahaha.
There was an ordinance about segregation of garbage too before, but people are not doing it, and now i don't know what happen to that ordinance anymore.
The thing is... it's hard to tell people to do proper things, and if your really tough you'll have to wrestle with them. :)

So, would this mean, use paper instead? I hope this ordinance also has something to do about reforestation, because of course, if they will be using paperbags instead of plastics, then more trees will be cut.
It is indeed a good idea, and if executed well, will result to a greater good. Good luck!

I think yes, they might be requiring paper bags instead of plastics. Like what you said, they shoould also consider reforestation. Furthermore, there are some paper manufacturing plant using recycled paper. That can be a great option instead of cutting trees for the paper.

good day asdomencil,
our place here have adopted that policy since last year. though at first it was a bit of adjustment as i personally always forgot to bring my eco-utility bag. although there was a grace period being given and imposed, the first month of implementation is still a part of the adjustment period. however, we get used to it and of course, adhering to the policy is a must. so now, i always fold an eco-utility bag and always put it inside my bag to prevent me to forget it.

I know that at first months or even year of the implementation of this regulation is really a hard for everyone but in the long run, poeple will be used to it. In my case, I always bring eco bag on my car and whenever I thought of going to market, I am always ready for it.
We know that there are eco-bags but if people does not have proper use of this, it will result into waste too. Let say, they went to market, they forgot to bring eco bags and they keep on buying every time they went to market.
I hope that this ordinace will be a success.

This is a good start for the people of Bulacan. The move is right and just in time. I am sure that the use of plastic can be controlled in the provincial level. It is more effective if each municipality has a the same downgraded law on it. This movement will have a great result in the future and I hope that more places in our country will follow this law. Happy new year!!!

I agree with you, better start it now before its too late. However, I read the content of the ordinance, it was written there that only non-biodegradable plastics are covered by the rule. What about the non-biodegradable plastics used my many supermarkets nowadays? Do you think this should be included in the prohibition?

Oh i would be thrilled if this is implemented all over the country. I am all for using recyclable bags, earth or green bags for our groceries and all. it saves us or does not add more trash that gets to be collected. :D and it teaches people to be more responsible as well. =) =) Best Regards! See you Around! Happy mylotting.

That will be great if this is being implemented nationwide. I know we can because there are already cities implementing such ordinance. Like what you said, self-discipline is one way to make mankid responsible.

The crusade against plastic is gaining much ground across several continents .It is wise notion aimed at reducing pollution of the earthy environment. All should be aware of the dangers of plastic waste getting accumulated in our surroundings.

I know that plastics is not tharmful to the environment as long as it is used proeprly. People tend to overuse plastis creating too much garbage in the environment. There are many institutions creating ways to recycle plastics. I hope that ths ordinance will help a lot in the environment.

I hope the whole Philippines will follow this example... this would certainly bring more positive effects to our environment... i just hope that they substitute plastic with something that people can reuse... like cloth bag or recycled paper bags... because it not recycled... then we tend to hurt the environment by cutting down trees to be used for making paper...

I think there are other options in using reusable things. Papers can be recycled and use as raw materials in paper production without cuttign trees. Using cloth bags is another option but it should be also used properly, or else, it will result as trash too like plastics.

That is great news. I hope that my city would implement as such soon. In Marikina I think they have implemented this already and so as Davao. I also agree that after this project of the government to change from plastic to paper, they would also implement reforestation. Our forests need it badly, we can already see and feel the effects of bald mountains every typhoon that would pass our country. It is already an endless flooding in almost all parts of the country now.
For others whose city doesn't implement this no to plastic and styro use, I hope the people will just be more conscious on bringing their own reusable bags when going shopping or to the market.

You got a point there, reforestation is another good project by the government and it should not end in just plating the trees in mountains but there should be someone who will take good care of it.
I think there are other cities too that prohibits the use of plastic bags and replace it by using papers. But there should be a way to create papers without cutting trees. Recycling is a best option for this issue.

Strict implementation of these new ordinances is a huge step for the Filipinos. It has been long overdue, actually. We should have long been with the same bandwagon of eliminating the use of plastics and styros. We have known for so many years that these materials are non biodegradable and they are one of the causes that ruins our planet.

I agree with you. It should be strictly implemented. I think this has been signed by the governor last July 2012 and will be implemented now. Another issue is that citizns must also know how to control the usage of packaging materials even they are biodegradable because when this is accumulated, it may have the same effect.

this is a good news. ever since the weather and climate had changed, people are getting to find solutions to help preserve our nature. this little step is a thumbs for me since plastics are the number waste in the environment. it cant be decayed and it will last for millions of years. like also Bulacan, our municipalities here in La Union is doing these things also. instead of using plastic bags for market, they implemented using a old news paper or any recycled paper to wrap products in the market.

Good it is nice to hear that information but is it really logical for us to banned the used of plastic? The invention of plastic is signed of growth. I think Politics must be used on the right perspective. The problem is not the plastic but the people using the plastic. Politician just go what is the demand of the clamor. They did not realized that they are ELECTED as our Leaders to decide the choices we made. I think the used of plastic must not be banned. What we must to emphasized is how to educate the people in the proper disposal of their waste and for the Govt. to used the teeth of the Law to implement what is to be implemented for me, banning the use of plastic is a plastic moved by itself

I think there are other provinces or cities that implements the said ordinance. I jut hope the the local government will really implement the said ordinace strictly. In my own observation, as early as now before the full implementation of the said ordinance, they should make the people aaware in the whole provice of the said rules. But I think it is not the way it should be going. There are still establishments using plastics especially in wet markets.

I don't think banning plastic will bring more good than harm to our environment. Per se, plastic is not bad if properly dispose, the problems lies on the people's behavior, who use them and throw it away into our river and canal tributaries. With the banning of plastic, we need to cut more trees for our paper bags. We don't need to resort to plastic banning if only our government has the political will to impose strictly the garbage segregation. Now we address some of the problems by creating another problem.

I got your point. I know that banning of plastics will not totally ressolve the issue, but I know somewhat helps.
I agree with you about the strict implementation of garbage segregation. As far as I know, there is already law about this one. I admit, I am guilty of not segregating our garbage. One of my reason is because the garbage colelctor does not segragate the grabge they collected, It was just dumped in their trucks. Furthermore, they keep on collecting unsegregated garbage even there is already municipal ordinance here in our town.
Ijust hope such rules and regulations must be strictly implemented.

I think the use of platic bags is only the one that is being included in the ordinace and other packaging materials made of non-biodegradable materials. How about the plastics claimed by many supermarkets that it is a biodegradable one?
