And then the day arrived which we planned so carefully. My sister, brother and I are the happiest children and feel blessed to still have our mom around. We had a super evening Saturday celebrating mom's 80th birthday! My mom still has the spirit and could not wait to finish her food to dance! Together with her grandchildren they danced the night away! Can your 80-year old mom still dance? I added her to my profile pic!

whaaaaaaaat hahaha that's a great spirit.. such a woman indeed. yes, losing a mother is different. we have lost a lot. when we talked about her (my siblings and I) we used to shed a tear. then it was a regret that we did not give her comfort in life before she passed. but we knew that she passed happy... she was cooking lunch (because it was my sister's birthday when her day ended). She even called my eldest sister to have lunch with them.. (not with me because I was at work when it happened). when she was found in the kitchen, everything she prepared and chopped on were arranged.. and the knife was on the working table, too. meaning, when she felt something she managed to sit on the floor.
ahhh forget about that story...
Yes, enjoy the presence of your mother... and dance the night away with her.

My mother is still a lot younger than 80 years old. However, it was only six years ago that her 86-year-old mother passed away. Well, I got married in the summer after she turned 84 years old and I have a number of pictures of her dancing at my wedding reception. She danced with me and she danced with my father-in-law. She really was quite a riot to see. She had her arm in a sling as she was recovering from a broken shoulder, but she definitely didn't let that slow her down.

How wonderful for you, dee! Your mom looks great! And she sounds like a fantastic mother to have. How lucky you are. I'm glad she's so healthy. And so happy for you that you have such a family. Tell your mom I wish her the happiest of birthdays (belatedly). I think your avatar pic is really, really good. You both look fantastic! Thanks for sharing this. It was very nice to hear. It gave me a good feeling.

That's very nice! I saw a lot of old people here in Romania that are still very active. Like my husband's granny who is 76 years old and still doing so much things, a 90 yeard old man is still skiing in the snow and many of them are walking around the park. It brings me a different kind of happiness to see very old couples who are still walking around the park and enjoying each other, it inspires me.

Your profile photo is lovely. Happy 80th Birthday to your mom. She is healthy and fit to dance the night away. At the moment my mom is 79 years old. In March she will become 80 years old. My mom is well and she does dance sometimes. She likes dance tunes from the 1990s.

Nice to hear that your mom will also have a 80th party soon! Make sure you have some nice dance music for her and have lots of fun! Elderly people full of life does not like quiet parties. I think they want to show the world that having fun has nothing to do with age.

Very few lucky people reach such a feat in their life and one of them is your mother and I would like to mentioned my Mother in law who is now 82 plus. Let's pray to god to give them healthy life so that they will complete the century

Such a great lady your mom is. My mom will turn 70 this Saturday and I doubt she'll be able to dance. She's been having a hard time walking this past year that just to take her out for dinner to celebrate with her children and grand children will take a lot of patience.

As long as she can be with you all, she will be blessed, I am sure. enjoy her birthday on Saturday and spoil her!My mom's one knee also gives her trouble, but she is using medicine every day for the pain. Cannot believe that she still danced with that knee!

Wow! It's so nice to hear about elderly people who can act like 20-year olds - in the best sense of the word, that is :). It's so just so heartwarming, you must be really happy. Most elderly people, at least in my environment, are either really off physcially or they are really sour... it's so nice to see elderly people who are enjoying life! They are my role models. I wanna be like them when I'm older, not one of those grumpy old ladies who hate everything and all they want to do is watching soap operas on TV...

My mom also enjoys her soapies, and would even tell us to switch to her TV channel when she visits! She is a real blessing and also insists to cook when she visits me. I told her that she is old enough to have another husband (she is a widow for the past 30 years)but she said she is not prepared to wash stinky socks... haha.

Wow! Happy birthday to your mom. Your are very blessed to have still. Mine have gone to heaven even before I can recognize her. The good thing of it though is I don't have a memory with her that would make me sad and mad in life. I have wondered of many "what if's" though, but I have accepted it that sometimes... life is like that.
I hope and pray that last Saturday was indeed the best day of the year ever for her. God bless!
