The Hobbit, for my first time at an IMAX theater

The IMAX craze has been there for awhile, but never have I tried it or even had the interest to. I think it's just too expensive for something I can do at a very cheaper alternative. However, last weekend, there was no other cinemas showing this wonderful movie, so we were forced to run for that only schedule available for us on that day. Nevertheless, I was glad that the money we spent was more than worth the fun and the satisfaction we had after about 3 hours of screening. The Hobbit Unexpected Journey was just as entertaining as the famous Lord of The Rings Trilogy. Now, I'm excited to see the next part, and I wouldn't hesitate to pay for another IMAX ticket to see the best of this masterpiece.
As for IMAX, it was indeed a different experience. The scenes were even more vivid, especially those taken in the Shire and Rivendell. The beauty of the locations where the scenes were shot was magnified thousand times.
I just didn't like to have to wear some goggles, that always gives me a headache, but nonetheless, the whole experience was superb.

Me and my husband went 2 weeks ago to see the Hobbit. I liked what parts of the movie I could stand watching. It sucked because I had a migraine so it was hard to focus on the movie and to watch it.

A little bit because of the fact we saw it in 3rd and the 3rd images for some of the scenes wasn't done very well so it also gave my husband a bit of headache but the migraine was due to me having been sick for 2 weeks with a very bad cold and getting up to feed JD in the middle of the night also kind of help give me a migraine. It was a bad one for sure.

Oh, I guess that wasn't very good timing to watch 3D with a migraine. If I had a choice, I wouldn't go for IMAX, though, because aside from the cost, Im really not comfortable wearing those glasses while watching. But, it was the only cinema carrying the title.

It has been my dream to watch movie in IMAX theater. But we are living in the province and so sad that we don't have a mall that would offer such. I will just be contented watching movies in Digital 3D....yes, the movie was great! I am just sad that it was not given credits during the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards.

Really?! It didn't get any award, at all? That's a shame.

Oh! I would have wanted it to watch in Imax but I couldn't afford to pay for it.... I know that it is deserving to watch it in Imax.. You get the feel the best quality in watching a movie.. and I get the best for what we pay for... but for now... I have to pass in watching Imax movies....

That's okay. Don't feel bad. The important thing is you get to watch it. If we missed it in the cinema, we would just be watching it on DVD with a 32" screen, and we'd still enjoy it.

I watched it at SM Cebu, in our place. I'm from Cebu, Philippines. My husband was able to watch Batman Dark Knight Rises, at SM Mall of Asia and he said the IMAX theater was at a separate hall, and was really fantastic.
There can't be too many IMAX theaters in our place, either, because not too many can afford to watch a movie there, everyday.

Those scene does make me suprised. I think the hobbit is funny in the beginning. Buglar and the incineration contract. The dwarf are really taking the young hobbit place a mess. In the end, The young king of dwarf said " I have never been so wrong in my life and the hobbit said I will doubt myself too. That were funny

I have never seen that movie, but I have experienced IMAX on a couple of occasions. If I'm not mistaken, we watched Avatar and MI 3 on IMAX and you're right, the experience is superb. We purposely chose those movies that are filled owing special effects and large movements so we can really get the value for our money. And we must say we're not disappointed. It is not advisable though if you're having a headache, well actually watching anything with a headache is never a good idea.

You should try to have time to watch it, even on DVD, because I don't think it's still showing in cinemas. Actually, this movie wasn't highly promoted like they did for The Lord of the Rings. I was even just surprised it is already in the cinemas, when my husband told me about it. I didn't quite see a lot of trailers of it in the movies we watched months before it's showing date.
I just get headache when I put on that goggle for extended hours. I would readjust it or take it off, once in awhile to give my eyes a break.

I just watched the IMAX movie once and the result is great. I haven't watched the movie Hobbit yet. It seems this movie will be available later in this month. I think the special effect will be super since it is an IMAX movie. The disadvantage is the IMAX movie tickets are rather expensive.

I watched The Hobbit on Imax too. The credit card bill just came
and it cost me RM69 for three persons (adult). We enjoyed the movie
very much and the big screen Imax effect was fabulous. My earlier
Imax experience was 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth". It was a
wonderful experience. Batman Rises also on Imax but without 3D,
awesome huge images that really take my breath away! I always look
forward for movies on Imax, only budgeted for good movies because
it is not cheap ....

You know, I've never read Tolkien's books, but I'm interested to read The Hobbit. Is it easy to download the ebook? and, is it free?
