If you didn't have to work, what would you do?

I started a post about retiring a few months back. For some reason people think when you retire you sit around doing nothing but watching tv and getting old. That is so far from what I mean by retiring. When I no longer have to work a 9-5 job, I am going to have the freedom and money to do what ever I want.
When I stop working, I am going to continue to grow my business, I am going to travel all around the USA, I will focus more time with my family.
If you didn't have to workm what would you do?

If I didn't have to work and money was no issue, I would finally enjoy life! We would go on vacations and spend more time with our family as well. Hopefully by the time my husband and I get older there will be no more money problems so we can at least enjoy some time before we die...

I am looking for work right now, so no. As of now I stay home with my kids and Home School my daughter. My husband works. So we will probably spend the rest of our lives all work and no play...

what you need to do, is figure out what you love to do and find a way to make money doing that. That's what I did with Herbalife. I love working with and people, so when I discovered Herbalife, I was able to do just that and make good money doing it.

When i retire, i would definitely want to put up a business that i would enjoy but does not require me to work 8 hours a day or more. I want to spend more time with my family and friends ,not to worry much about money, travel and sit on the computer while having coffee,lols...
But I would continue to grow as a person, that one does not stop when you retire, there is more life after retiring i think and more fun i hope!
Thanks

I'm mostly retired right now but unfortunately, money is an issue due to some unforeseen problems.
In the extra time I now have, I am still able to do a lot of things that I enjoy but couldn't do, or do much of, when I was working full time.
Those things include knitting, reading, gardening, experimenting with various things like making a candle stove or learning to cook in a solar oven. I have a million interests, it seems, so I now have time to try at least some of them.

if i was healthy, i would probably volunteer. i would also like to work on my art too. i was off last week because i had some lung issues and laid around all day and read and watched tv. i suppose that would get pretty boring after awhile but it was quite nice while it lasted.

it's always nice when you can have some down time just to lay around and be. But i don't know of anyone who wants to retire so they can just lay around all day doing nothing!! Doing art, and volunteering your time to others... now that's how you spend time when you no longer have to work for money!

I don't think I would ever be able to just sit in front of a T.V and get old when I retire. I would enjoy time with my family as much as possible though. I look forward to having more time for my hobbies instead of work. I'm a while away from retiring so my enjoyment might change but right now I knit and do beadwork and crafts all the time but do not have enough time to devote to it as I would like. I also love to bake and cook and probably would be in the kitchen alot when I retire......I so can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not have any specific plans on what I intend to do on retirement, but it will certainly not be sitting around all day and watching television. In fact, considering the current level of television programming I would rather go to work than watch that garbage all day.
I would certainly like to travel more often than I do at present, but that would depend on the financial aspect of my retirement. Even without a good financial status I would certainly plenty to do. It is difficult to find sufficient time to clean the house as often as I would like, or to cook more often instead of using microwave meals regularly. That alone would occupy a portion of my extra time, after which I would probably find a hobby to interest me.

I think I'd take some classes of things I've been wanting to learn. And spend more time with my friends. I'd probably try to travel and do some volunteer work, too.

If I didn't have to work I think I would stay home and watch dramas. Ideally, I think I would want to travel the world but because I'm a bit lazy and a procasinator, I think I'm going to end up staying home and watching dramas and eating food in bed. I think I can still be exposed to many cultures through different type of television shows.

I always have to work since I am a mother. I could have been a granny already since years.. instead I have 2 little children and it will take at least 10 more years till I can do more with me. As I became aware of that I decided to start travelling again and do some more things .. things I all gave up because of my children. I doubt if I will ever be free and if I am proabably too old to enjoy life the way I like the most.

Uhm, it depends on what other responsibilites I would have or how much money I would have. Definitely, I would take on a smaller job, maybe, and travel and go to the theatre more, spend more time with my family, write more (like a novel or something)...

I have no time to learn what I like at present since I have only one day off a week.
If I didn't have to work,I would take lessons about cooking and photography and try to do it well.
Besides,I like hairdressing and want to help my friends and family create a goodlooking hair style for them!

My husband retired about three years ago and he doesn't really do much. The one thing he does every spring and summer though that he loves to do is fish. Once my daughter and her husband moved down a year ago, my husband got hers hooked on going just about every other day or close to that often. He calls it the fever now.

Like you, I plan to have my own business too. I've been dreaming to learn to make clothes for women and children, I think that's what I'd do. And also be active in some community and church activities, that way I'm not confined to just one task here and there. I don't have travelling plans though, I don't think my body can still handle travelling at that age.

I would to retire too. But I gotta have money to put up a business. Make it grow until what I need to do is just hire a few people who can be trusted to look over it. And all I gotta do is check on it once in a while, do the accounts and all thosse things. While I got all the time in my life to go out and spend time with my family. Wow! I wonder when and how I'd be able to do that.

I would spend more time visiting my family. I inherited many of my family's old photos, so I do have a task to do when I am able to retire. I would like to put together an electronic scrapbook of the history of my family - well, as far as back as the oldest family photos. And they go back four generations, so I have quite a job since most of my family photos are in boxes.
I would also like to spend more time at the beach.
