A huge blow to the peace process.

While India always keeps extending a hand of friendship, refrains from use of harsh language to Pakistan, the latter returns it back to India by sending not only terrorists but also its soldiers who come into our territory. This time, the Pakistani troops have gone to the extreme. They have crossed over the border, killed two soldiers and took the severed head of one of the soldiers back with them. This barbaric killing of two Indian soldiers is not only a huge blow to the ongoing peace talks between the two nations but also a violation of the Geneva Convention. New Delhi must send a strong message to Islamabad that its double standards are no longer acceptable to India. At the same time, the rest of the world should protest strongly to pile pressure on Pakistan, otherwise, global peace may be hampered at any moment and Pakistan would be held responsible in that case.

That is too bad from Pakistan and nothing else can be expected from such a neighbors. At least the government should react in some way they should cut all the relations with Pakistan , stop all the business and peace talks. Pakistan badly needs the goods supply and business from India , that will teach some lesson to them.

I don't think that waiting for the Pakistan to be a good neighbor is advisable, I am not in favor of war but a message should go to them that we care of every single India citizen . If this sort of thing would have happen to US citizen not a soldier in anywhere they would have teach them a good lesson. Our politicians are so bad that they can't take some serious and needy decisions.

I dont know if you watched the million people march today...and the speech of the cleric.
There is a distinct divide between
Aam aadmi of Pakistan (average citizen of Pakistan), and the ruling politicians.
Politicians tend to listen to the military personnel, who in turn listen to terrorist outfits like Taliban. Some politicians are afraid of such people, and so they listen to them. Others use such people so they return the favor. Quite like what happens in our country, right? There are also some unhealthy dealings between the ruling party and the opposition, again like in our country.
Given such a scenario, some people are swayed into the propaganda of government and military personnel. Rest know that they need jobs, they need food, they need homes, and many other things, which the government is not able to provide, even when the politicians are getting richer by the day.
We cant hate the people of Pakistan...they are not the ones who are bad. It is the government that is misleading them with false propaganda. As to military, it is smarting under the defeats at our hand. So it wants to get even, and improve its score, as if it were some football game.
Average Pakistani craves for peace as much as we do. Average Pakistani wants to have a better financial future as much as we do. Average Pakistani knows that wars are financed out of funds that they can ill afford, but have no say in managing their funds. Average Pakistani is sad that despite the help extended by the country it is still looked down upon, thanks to the terrorists who have joined hands with the politicians in the country. So when Pakistani people are rising up against the military and political regime, we need to have patience.

But we have periodically given them what you mentioned "message". I am of the opinion that the present situation is due to some terrorist outfits. They are functioning from both sides of the border, effectively escalating the issues out there. They have sneaked in at our end. And the beheading is a message that if you can do it to Kasab, we will do to your folks too. I was kind of expecting this..I heard their general talk...and he truly didnt seem to be lying or smug or arrogant.

I thought there is something very recent and urgent which make you write this late at night, it is a old news now. It was Jan 8 when they allegedly killed the two Indian troops by crossing the borders. It violates the ceasefire pact of 2003.
There were no talks after the Novemebr 2008, Mumbai terrorist attack, but now they started it directly at the border.
On the other side they have refused of any such killing, and said that it was the Indian army who killed their soldier on Jan 6. It is their allegation. Today army chiefs has reportedly talked, and it is a little cool now.

It might be a old news now. But it was so brutal and shocking that I could not sleep whole night when I came to know about it.

Neither India nor Pakistan wishes to solve the issue that is the bitter truth. However, the peace process will continue and it will never end or reach any conclusion. Terrorists are doing their works from both countries. They are successful to prevent the peace talks in between both countries by making some issues always.
If both countries wish to find a permanent solution then they should work together against the terrorists. I felt that is the need of the hour to bring peace in both countries.

I think reacting promptly is not advisable. The reason being...even if we go on war immediately, we cant expect others to come to help us. Right now, the entire world is reeling under the pressure of economic slowdown. So nobody can accommodate a war in their budget right now, whether it is theirs or that of others. Except China...and we know on whose side that country is going to be.
We need to gather our forces so to speak. If possible though, we do need to look at extremists actions as exactly that, and avert any war. I dont really think Pakistan army would dare to come for a war at this moment. This is because the economic downturn has affected them as well. They will try to time the war closer to their elections hoping to revive national spirit and thereby gain support for the ruling party. That is the dangerous period during which we cannot afford to start a war. They will provoke, we need to exercise restraint. Excersing restraint does not mean accepting defeat, instead it means we are getting the sympathies of the world, and appreciation for our restraint, and that would make Pakistan seem like a traunt nation and therefore, more support will be forthcoming towards us. That is the idea. We may or may not win the war on our own, but with the support of others, we will certainly win the war.

It is true that no one wants a war and it is especially so for India India which is a peace-loving country and which believes in the souvernity of her neighbours. It is possible as it is a democratic country with deep roots of democracy in all spheres of life. But in Pakistan, there was not any democracy, there is not at all any democracy and I apprehend there will never be any democracy any day in the coming future. It is also true that Pakistani army would never dare to come for a war with India because India is far ahead of Pakistan in all respects, be it military strength or science and technology. Pakistan cannot match India in any respect. It always takes advantage of the great level of tolerance of India. But everything has its limits. It would be wise for Pakistan if it keeps in mind that India has already crossed over that highest level of tolerance. So it would restrict its army and at the same time, would destroy all terrorist outfits, otherwise, the final outcome for Pakistan may not be a happy one.

Pakistan always plays double standards while dealing with India. I think it is for its own survival. Hatred for India is the pivot on which the existence as well as survival of Pakistan depends. But it also knows that it is not able to match India in any respect. As far as military strength is concerned, India is far ahead of it. So, one hand, it tries to please India by offering friendship but does the reverse in practice to please the fundamentalists as well as the terrorists. Pak army plays the key role in planning all these mischievous acts against India with the help of the dreaded terrorists. They either directly create chaotic conditions at the LoC by firing or crossing over or they take part indirectly by causing terrorist activities within the territory of India.

The British left India in 1947 dividing it into India and Pakistan. Since then, Pakistan has been behaving in this way with India, as if it has been entrusted to take a test of tolerance level of India. Previously, it was always sheltered by the USA and now it is enjoying the unconditional support of China. The USA has at last come to the realization that Pakistan is the sponsor of global terrorism but yet has to please Pakistan as it has no access to the Talibans unless it gets support of Pakistan. It is a kind of 'to catch the thief by the thief' policy. China is helping Pakistan to weaken India to enjoy absolute supremacy in this region of the Sub-continent. So unless these two big countries stop helping Pakistan, Pakistan will never come to the realization that if the two neighbouring countries work together, both will be benefited from it.

Whatever be the reason, i feel beheading a soldier is a cruel one.It is really barbaric in nature.
I feel patience is running out with India and rightly feel , its time they take a stern stand again Pakistan.
I also feel its right time to teach them a lesson.
