Starting at the end of January, businesses can start charing a fee for using a credit card in my state because of a settlement between Visa and retailers. It's scary since I use a credit card for everything and might have to change the way I shop.
Do the stores where you live charge a fee for using a credit card.

So far i haven't being charged for a fee by the store i used to shopped with my credit card, i do know that it is going to change soon if retailers nationwide begin to feel pressure to do so, they had complained previously that credit card companies are charging too much on them for the processing of customers' credit card, may be it is time for them to pass along the cost to the credit card holders for the convenient they enjoy so far, it will get more expensive to use credit card for purchases if every store begin to catch up with this new trend, other than paying for various fee and high interest rate come with the credit card account, the card holder may have to ditch out some more $$ out of their pocket for the retailers next time in exchange for the convenience, isn't life grand??

I haven't been charged a fee by a store either but it worries me that merchants can opt to charge fees now. I've also heard merchants complain about that credit card companies charge them too much so it is very possible that merchants will impose fees. Yes, life is very grand...

Not that i know of. Hopefully they don't start. The only thing I know they do is the minumuim pruchase price and a fee for using it at the cash machine. That would really be inconvient if they start charging a fee to use it at the stores.

I hope they don't start too. But I read on the Visa website that it use to be that merchants weren't allowed to charge fees but now it is up to the merchants whether to charge a fee or not. Some places I go to I ask the cashier if I can use a credit card and they say that they prefer cash so it sounds like some stores may impose a fee. Really hope they don't though.

Some stores in my area does that too. I don't mind a minimum purchase amount since it's usually not too high and wouldn't affect my purchase. Credit card fees are a bigger problem for me since I don't want to pay money in order to use a card if paying by cash is free.
