I have seen several gangsters movies lately on TV. I suppose the come as a package. But they mostly age well. It all started with watching again all the Godfather movies (awesome). They I saw the Untouchables, a wonderful movie with some incredible scenes. Now I`m watching with one eye a movie about the Cotton Club. It seems that there`s more coming. I just saw Lucky Luciano send someone to kill Schultz. I was checking all the gangsters in the movie when mylot said I was doing some suspicious activity. Do you check at he web when there`s an historical background in movies?

Hiya margi,
"The Godfather" is continually repeated lots of times on most channels. They are awesome although Michael Corleone was really cruel too.
He was devilishly handsome to go with it I felt sorry for his Wife Kay who had endured so many of his lies.
Also I wish that he had forgiven "Fredo" that would have been nice give him a more human touch I think.
James Cagney is still one of my favourites with his famous expression "you doyty rat" lol well something like that.
You are right there are so many great classics.
I got to see "El Cid" the other night and I was able to record it they had not shown this in such a long long time wonderful classic Herbert Lom was superb not to mention all the rest.

I wish I could see (and watch with some of my grandchildren) the great epic classics I saw long time ago. I remember "The ten commandments", "Ben Hur", "spartacus" and so many others.

Hiya margi,
There is a lot of the "oldies" coming back right now especially where the Channels are in "crisis". So the Channel I which is International as well shows a golden oldie on a Thursday so I figure that you could get to see it where you are albeit a different time.
"El Cid" was shown a couple of weeks back now and they had typically not announced it or anything so I was quick on the draw to get out a spare Cd that had sort of fell into my lap at the same time almost.
I had been waiting ages and ages for this Film to be shown again such a change to see great acting from other Actors like Douglas Wilmer who played the part of "Moutami" Emir of Zaragoza in those times.
Keep a look out for the International Channel One it could be repeated again.

Almost every time I have watched a movie based on a true story, I try to read more about the real events on the web. Of course, many times I've feared that someone will see what I'm searching for and some day some guys in suits will knock on my door and arrest me, but, hey, I believe craving for more knowledge can't be such a crime... I recently watched a great TV movie about Paul Castelano and a mini-series about Salvatore Riina. It was them very interesting for me to read more about them. Their illegal activity is part of modern history and it can't be denied. Reading about them should not be considered suspiciou activity.

Of copusrse that is not considered suspicious activity. The problem is that we go from one site to the other and one name to another. THat they don`t like

I agree. I don`t think that if we use several times a search engine, it means that there`s a suspicious activity.

No I don't because I know about The wise guys. Because it is a movie , the screen writer often changes a few things. But that doesn't matter unless you are trying to use the film as a historicsl guide. The only gangster film that is completely accurate is St Valentine's Day Masacre. It follows Exactly what happened that day.

I tried Shakespeare In Love but I didn't stay. I didn't like the storyline.

I had fun with the movie. Although it wasn`t Shakespeare, of course, I liked the showing of how thetre was done in the Elizabethan era. That was quite accurate.

I know that movies (as books) are fiction. But if I see "Shakespeare in love", I check at the web a little more about Shakespeare.

I've never really been a person that has been a fan of gangster movies so I can't share any of the experience that I've had with watching that particular genre of movie. However, there are some historical types of movies that I will watch from time to time and if I find that the subject matter is something that is really interesting to me, I would be likely to look up further information on the subject matter on the internet.

I talked about some great epic historic films that I saw maybe 50 years ago. One of them is The ten Comandments, a film that will help many youngsters have another approach to the biblical story. Charlton Heston is Moses.

I don`t think I have seen it, although I might not know the title. But I love Denzel Washington. He is a good actor AND he is very attractive.
