I've lost a lot of weight before, I have lost fifteen pounds here and ten pounds there. I have had six kids and after each one I've been able to reach my pre-pregnancy weight (with the excpetion of my last two pregnancies).
I lost weight by not eating, by eating from only one food group. I have never really followed any diet. I just quit eating.
My metabolism has slowed a lot. Not only has it slowed because of my age, but because of how I ate and how I took care of myself.
Our metabolisms are like a woodstove, and this makes so much sense. If you quit putting wood (food) in the stove the fire will go out. When you slowly add wood an hour or every two hours, you will keep the fire in the stove going. Our metabolisms are the same way. If you eat food, and keep a continuous supply of food (energy) you will keep the metabolism fired up.
Take good care of your metabolism and realize that you need to keep food (energy) in your body to keep your metabolism fired up.

Yes, having a good metabolism does help shed pounds here and there. But it really takes a lot of commitment. Each year, it does seem to get more difficult to find the time to exercise and eat healthy. I usually try to have a lot set a schedule for myself on the calendar on my days off from work. Although I don't always get the results I desire, it feels go after a good exercise to increase my metabolism.
