Rethinking how I drive

Three or so months ago I was driving to visit my mother and sisters and as I was driving my husband was talking to me and I didn't even know it but I was speeding. I was going way past my normal driving method...which is the posted speed limit or a little under, anyways a cop saw and pulled me over! My first one in all my years of driving which is under 15 years..so I have to take this test which is super easy! I'm half way done and I just want everyone here to know that there are things in the test I had NO idea about!! And I learned something new yesterday quite a few things actually. I'm a great driver but I'm gonna be better then great if that's at all possible... I haven't once gotten in a fender bender or in a wreck. I almost got in one last week but it was not my fault. I was driving and was about to make a right turn and the lady behind me drove around me and acted like she had the right of way. She didn't. And she blared her horn at me and gave me the finger. I wanted to get out of my car and give her a piece of my mind but it wasn't worth it. So I let it go! I told my husband about it and I thought he was going to take my keys away for my own safety lol!! I've seen many girls give me the evil eye at my daughters school and now I think I know why. They hate that I'm thirty and married. I've heard them talking about me. And I thought to myself..this is childish! So I let them think whatever they want. I also learned that there is this thing called road rage. And I've learned how to avoid them without getting into a confrontation while sharing the road. I'm still learning and by the end of the day I will be a little wiser than I was yesterday! What I wanna know is: What have u learned in all ur years of driving that u never knew. Please share

Hey, there could be million of things happen while you are driving, so, always keep your eyes on the road. I almost hit the car in front of me today while I was on my way home, luckily, I step on the brake hard, and the car reacted it quickly. Also, try to keep the distance from the car in front of you. Some people just trying to show off, and they always drive so closed to you, and I afraid of those people, especially during rainy days and snowy days.

When I am alone I sometimes don't care if I drive too fast but hen I am with someon, especially my wife, she would remind me that I am driving too fast. Then, I would slow down

Hi! I hope u don't mind me being outspoken but I think it would be best if u maybe drive the speed limit..? I've heard in commercials that if one is driving so fast and they hit someone...it's like jumping from a five story building or something like that. It could be harmful maybe not to u but for the other party. I'm not trying to tell u what to do or anything just maybe u might want to drive a bit more slower. But hey I am glad ur careful about driving when ur wife is with u, that's a good thing! Also if something happens to u what is ur wife going to think and feel?

It only takes one small distraction and that's it, I have to admit that being behind the wheel of my car turns me into a different person, but for the good, I am relaxed, calm and enjoy driving, if someone overtakes me or cuts me up, I don't get angry, if they want to break the speed limit or get there quicker it's their problem. I have never had road rage or be involved in road rage. I am a careful driver, I don't drink either. I like to think I haven't developed any bad habits on the road. I have had a full clean licence since 1989.

I am older and have been driving for years but I still am always learning. I now get a safe driver discount on my insurance but there was a time when that would not have happened. It comes with experience like most things. Now it is mostly about practicing patience with other drivers. I've never done road rage and am not one to give the finger or anything like that but inside, I sometimes feel like it. If I do something wrong, I try to let the other person know that I realize it and that I'm sorry. I don't think that no matter how good we are that we are above mistakes. As for the ones talking about you at your daughters school...ignore them..you are right..they are being catty and childish.

It can only take a moment for something serious and devastating to happen when you re behind the wheel. Paying attention to your driving can be routine after a while but it is important to give your driving the attention it needs. It will benefit your life and those around you.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well to be very honest, every time i drive my two wheeler i have got to know new things about my riding skills. Although i have been riding my vehicle since last 9 years, i have found that sometimes i get panic on seeing a traffic and sometimes i prefer fast but not rash driving. It has also made me equipped to drive in crowded areas. What say?

By two wheeler do u mean a bike? Because if u do then ur not alone there! I get really nurvous riding my bike near heavy traffic. Especially with one of my kids riding along with me. The roads here in my new town are not that bike friendly....and I wish they'd do something about that. Make some bike lanes or something. Anyways I'm happy to hear that u have learned new things while driving ur two wheeler!
