two dogs jumped in front of me

i was walking with my 3 1/2 year old nephew when two big dogs jumped in front of use. they were baring furiously. I'm glad that the owner of the dogs tried to stop them immediately. i actually saw the dogs from a far but i just didn't expect them to react that way since we were only waling slowly and they seemed calm. i didn't panic and moved my nephew away from the dogs. i was thinking if the dogs would bite me, i'd still be fine because i completed my anti=rabies vaccines last june and according tot he nurse, i'd be free from rabies for up to 3 years.

still scary even if you have anti rabies vaccine. One time I was walking in the street with my dog. I don't carry the dog (though he's small) because I was "walking" the dog . Then I saw from afar the stray macho dogs. I knew I will have a problem with this because my dog is a male. Male dogs have these territorial mind, and seeing a male dog will make them too frantic. you know "this is my territory why are you here" thinking. So when i covered my dog with my scarf and carried my dog. but they still saw his tail (LOL). so we both were attacked. the men from the street came to rescue us if not, there could be more harmed done to us. I got few scratches and a bite (i think my dog bit me, in surprise) and my dog too. we both went to the doctor after, had my anti rabies (very expensive ones) I really hate those who own those dogs, its a broad day time and there is a policy that during daytime dogs should be caged.

that's really scary. yes, dogs are really territorial. glad that you're okay now and your dog. it really hurts when you have to spend money on something that's not really your fault.

Dogs should be kept on a leash. The animal shelter should pick up those stray dogs, since they attacked a small dog and the owner. The owner of those dogs should have been required to pay for your rabies shots and those dogs should have been put down. Hopefully, those dogs get put away before someone else gets attacked by those dogs.

The owner really did a responsible job there. Sometimes dogs can be unpredictable so anti rabies vaccine will make sure that you are on safer side. The little kid must be scared though.

i was actually surprised that he didn't or anything. maybe because we have two dogs and though he isn't really into dogs yet, he's not really scared.

I'm glad nothing bad happened. Dog bites are so painful, it doesn't care you are free for rabies or not. I hope your nephew is OK and he didn't got scared too bad. Children can become fearful of dogs if they had such experiences. I am curious what was the dogs' owner explanation? I had a similar experience today and the dog owner kept saying 'he won't bite, he won't bite', while his dog was attacking my dog. I can't stand such irresponsible dog owners!

me nephew is okay. he's not traumatized or anything. i also hate that type of dog owners. how will he know that a dog will bite or not? dog behavior is quite unpredictable sometimes especially when there are other dogs around.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well u should be thankful to the owner of those dogs as he intervened at the right time otherwise it would have attacked u and your nephew. This has happened with me also but i have always shown my eyes to those dogs and with my hardcore mannerisms have controlled the situation otherwise these dogs would attack u. What say?

i was actually surprised that the dogs reacted that way to us. i'm really close to dogs and i believe i was really walking cautiously and didn't show that i was a threat to them.

The owner should train those dogs so they don't bark furiously or just don't have dogs. If the dogs bite, then they need to be put down. Dogs should not bite people at all. And people should not have dogs if they bark to the point of scaring people.

dogs just act base on instinct. it really is up to the owner to discipline and train them.

oh thank you for that share. I din know the anti-rabies vaccine could last long as 3years and you and your nephew were very lucky that the owner was with the 2 dogs i cant imagine otherwise. well you guys were pretty lucky. but in my experience wise the dog which barks wont bite much than a silent dog... :) dont know if its true but i feel so like that. I still dont know why the dogs were barking at you furiously .hmm

Thanks that nothing bad happened to you and your little nephew. I love dogs but I am afraid of their bites. Dogs are unpredictable, they looks very calm but may attack anytime. Be careful next time especially when you are walking with little ones.

Dogs have different manners. Some are don't bark and just run to you and bite you. Some are just stayed and barking. They say you must always prepared when you meet strange dogs. When you think dog would attack you just sit and have something in your fist to depend. When you sit the tendency of the dog is to bounce back, they would think you have something to do with them.

the dogs calmed down after the owner shouted at them to behave. still, we moved away from where the dogs are.
