A co - worker asked to go with him to Cape Town

This morning at break time, I approached a co - worker, who is come from North Africa, Gambia, I was curious whether he would travel back home this summer, he usually would go home every year. He told me that he wants to go somewhere different, like South Africa. I asked him where he would rather go? "Cape Town" that is where he had in mind, as he told me. He asked me if I would like to go with him, since he doesn't want to go alone. I would think that is interesting, because I never been to Cape Town, South Africa. But first thing first, is there safe to travel? Not like other African countries always in civil war. I would love to go definitely, but I have to save up some money as that trip might be expensive. What do you know about Cape Town, has anyone ever been there?
