Extreme Couponers?

You know the ones I mean, the ones who have like 25 or more of the coupons at the check out and they are in front of you. Do you have alot of patience with those or would you go to another line and not have to deal with that? Have you ever met up with one person where they actually had 50+ coupons and got alot of their stuff for free as they show on TV and such? I would just die if I had gotten on a line with that. It took one family I saw on TV 2+ hours to get it all checked out. Meanwhile doesn't the food (some of it) spoil? The kind like shampoo and such are safe though of course, but what if they need meat or some dairy too? They don't show those kind of extreme couponing shopping trips on TV.

I'm glad that they are able to save themselves money and are that through about. I would just go to another line. Because I don't have the time or patience to do couponing like that so I know I don't want to stand in line for it. I have never met anyone like that though. Yeah that is way too long to wait in line for me.

Me too it is always nice to save some money. I would go to another line also, it would just take too much time apparently some of them take a few hours before they are finished racking up all of the items and doing the coupons afterwards.

It does not bother me to have an extreme couponer with many coupons to redeem in front of me at the checkout line. I have ofteen that couponer myself. You can save so much with sales and couponing and we really should not put another person down for finding ways to save extra money. It actually shows what a smart shopper they are.

I have been on a line where the store itself had the person waiting cause the clerk did not understand how to use the coupon, rebate or whatever it is. That is more annoying than the people buying items with coupons sometimes. I have had a clerk like that too. Especially if they see you will get an item for free with a coupon, for some reason it confuses them. The manager had to come out twice and verify the coupon was legit. Other times it has not happened thankfully.

Granted it is possible, but those extremers have ruined it for the rest of us. Buying so much that they don't even need. I am a couponer from way back.I have coupons from newpaper and online and have usually about $15-$20 a month in coupons (I only go once a month..just feeding me and my husband) To me that is a tank of gas. But the coupons offered are often not worth bothering with (25 cents off 4 cans...unless I am actually wanting that brand at that time, I don't use the coupon...another brand is cheaper without a coupon!) But I do buy to stock up...some things I know I dont' need this month, but will next month and have a little stock for if we dont' get to the grocery next month or the money is a little tight and we have to cut back to make ends meet, we will have food. But these extremers..lot of things they don't tell you. First and foremost...they all go to stores that double coupons. And I have noticed they are all in the mid-west of the country. Out here in california...no store doubles. Well, maybe in some smaller town they might, but mostly in the main areas..they dont' double. So that is half the savings right there. Plus, they dont' tell you where they get those coupons. Yes, they do use the newspaper circulars and get them from others or the trash etc..but like I said before.. I get those and out of 100 coupons offered... I cut 10. I dont' use the pet food, the baby stuff, and Glade has tons of them... but I dont' use that. Hair color, razors etc... stuff that I either don't buy or buy twice a year and used last months coupon so don't need it till 6 months from now and they all expire within 3 months at the longest. And I have looked at the laundry coupons and even if the store did double...the price is higher and it wouldn't be near being free like they show on the show. And they get the high value coupons all the time.. like a dollar off...and they never say where they get those. They aren't in the newspaper and they aren't online..yet they not only get t hem, but they get couple dozen of them. I know some buy coupons off ebay, but they never mention that nor do they include that cost of the coupons in their savings, nor do they include the cost of gas to drive to several stores or back and forth to the same one a time or two a day. So lately in coupons, I have noticed that the manufacture putting out the coupon has said on the coupons in red ink...."DO NOT DOUBLE" and "ONLY 3 COUPONS ALLOWED PER PURCHASE", meaning they can only use 3 of the same coupons per purchase and if they use more they have to make more purchases..which they do. I have also noticed that the online coupons..you can only print each coupon 3 times. Then they state print limit has been reached and you can't print more. And I never see the ones on the show even using online coupons.. it is always newspaper ones. And to.. they seldom show the people buying meats, veges, fresh fruits, eggs and other refrigerated items. It is 99% dry goods. Which okay, fine, but what they save on the coupons, they have to spend on meats etc. Plus..they all say that it has helped their budget so much...well really it only saves you whatever you would have spent on groceries. It isn't cash you get back or anything like that. So I dont' see how they can say it has saved them so much money etc. All they have saved is the cost of groceries every month and even then...some cash has to go towards things they don't have couposn for like meats and milk etc. And they might have gotten $500 worth of groceries for $2.35...but they bought so much of things they have no use for or can't possibly use before the items expire so where are the savings? More cost they don't include in the bottom line..cost of paper to print out coupons online, cost of shelving units etc to store the items. I saw one that had like 99 bottle of the 2 liter soda all stacked in the corner. I bought 10 at the beginning of the summer about 2 years ago thinking, I had coupons to get them inexpensive and I'd have the soda for the rest of the summer for when the kids came over unexpectedly or for swimming or something. Kind of "have on hand" kind of thing.. as I don't drink soda. Well, the summer came and went and I used 3 bottles and the rest sat...and at Christmas time I went to use it and the other bottles were all flat and I just dumped them. So soda doesn't last that long and to have tons of bottles...they'll just get thrown away so where is the savings? I just coupon for myself and what I need. I stock up on some things and always rotate my stock. Another thing they never mention...rotating stock so you use soonest expiration first.

Wow you about covered everything, I have to agree with all of it too. One other thing is that sometimes stores do not allow you to buy more than one or so of the item or only allow one coupon at a time. Here anyways.

I live in Canada and we do not have extreme couponing quite like USA but I use coupons myself, and a lot at one time.It has never taken me 2hrs to get through a cash and there is not a lot of coupons for meats and such at least not here in Canada. The longest it has taken me to get through cash is 20 minutes. I always warn people as soon as they get in line behind me that I have a lot of coupons and price matching and it might take some time as a courtsy, most people don't mind but if they do they will switch lines. I have a large family and have to do everything I can to save money so coupons are a necessity to me.

I doubt I have ever seen a coupon for meat in my entire life. So it leaves me to question wether or not it is really worth the trouble, cause I'm sure they have to make another trip for meat and such but they don't show that on TV.

There's this TV program about extreme couponers, My husband and I find it really awesome to have their cartfuls of groceries down to just, let's say 7 dollars and 10 cents. I did try to do the same feat but I was only able to use 1 coupon and managed to save 1-2 dollars. I don't know how they do that or if it's legit. Or probably I just lack their patience.

Yes I have seen it a few times awhile ago. It is awesome, I agree. That is usually the case with me only using one coupon and saving a dollar at best LOL. Most stores around here only accept one coupon per person and don't have double coupons.

Oh I used to swap coupons too with a few people, but got tired of it. I just cut them out of the paper sometimes, alot of the time I pass on it though. You can call it laziness if you want, not that many coupons I use though are out there.
