How do I get back to my job?

My oldest daughter picked me up when I was sick and drove me 1 1/2 hours to my friend's house where I could stay to get well. My youngest daughter was supposed to take me back to the town where I work on Monday evening, but she was tired and asked me to wait until Wednesday morning when her husband, my son-in-law would take me back to work. Now, it is Tuesday night, I am supposed to be back at work by 9:00 a.m. in the morning and my son-in-law says he will pick me up by NOON. That means that I would not get to work and I would probably come really close to losing my job, if not losing my job. My friend has a son who is total care and she has offered to load him up in the car and drive me back to work, but I would still be late. I don't want my friend to have to go to that much trouble for me and I don't know how to get my daughter and son-in-law to understand that I could have taken a bus back today had I known that they were falling back on their word to drive me back to my job. I don't know what to do, now.

How frustrating for you. I hope you found a way to make things work out. I think sometimes people just get wrapped up in their own schedules and can't see how important it is to go somewhere at a certain time for someone else.

I guess, being as it's 8:45AM here, that you're probably late for work or can't get there today. That's an awful situation and all you can really do is call your supervisor and tell him or her the situation. That's all you can do, and hope for the best.
As for the future--never depend on anyone! I learned long ago that even when people have the best intentions, YOU are never more important than their own plans even if it's your own children you're depending on. You must have been deathly ill to have to go to a friend's house so far away. I'm glad you're feeling better.
