If you are a first timer seeing this slim grayish woodworm it wont perk up your appetite really. This exotic delicacy serve fresh on a bowl dipping only in vinegar or any of your favorite alcohol,It takes like ordinary oyster but for me it is better than oyster. It can only be found in Palawan and according to them it is an aphrodisiac so becomes popular to forieghners,If you are brave enough to eat this food just pick a strand of tamilok dip into the bowl with alcohol and swallow....so Do you hve the courage to eat TAMILOK?

I am not really into eating exotic cuisine because my taste buds aren’t used to eating such cuisines however, if I would be served with Tamilok and if it is served as cooked rather than eating it raw. Then I would probably do eat such food, however, it really depends if it is cooked as that of your traditional meats and chicken. But if it is not cooked in a way that the eyes aren’t fooled, then I wouldn’t do so.

Hi mebuhalog,
I am a foodie and like to eat a lot and also cook a lot. I can cook lots of things and people tell me I cook good. When it comes to food I am quite experimenting. I like to experiment a lot in food but even then I would say No way I am going to eat these worms. I have never tasted oyster because it is not available here. So to answer your question No way.

I tried eating that when we visited Palawan. At first glance, I really thought of not eating it. Seeing it reminded me of a Fear Factor challenge where you eat some food you could never imagine eating at all. But I tried it anyway, and it was good. I liked it. But I only had a couple of Tamilok. I really recommend those who'd like to experience Palawan to its fullest.

I am a filipina too and I have heard about this exotic food but I haven't tried it.Honestly speaking, I am having second thoughts on trying to eat or even try exotic foods because I am wondering what were the taste would be like.Secondly my stomach is not that adaptable to some foods that's why I am very careful .There are actually a lot of exotic foods here in the philippines and they are developing them so that it can promote extra income on some of the places here in the philippines. ;0

Nah, I don't think so. And to think that I have an aversion to crawlies! The likes of snakes, worms, etc. I would rather still go for oysters anytime of the day than tamilok. I am originally from the Philippines and I have seen this delicacy on some documentaries. They don't look too yummy for me.

Actually tamilok is not a worm but it looks like a worm,it is a mangrove-boring mollusk ...well to taste is to believe.thank you Raine.
