That depends on the people and the situation and food taken. If you have been working very hard, then for some people sleep arrives by mid-day.Especially fro people who do sleep in noon during weekends. For some others, thats if they are ill or sick. Some people feel sleepy after having heavy food. And some feel sleepy due to boring work or workload. So there could be variety of reasons or perhaps a combination of reasons.I do not feel sleepy in noon or evening.I never liked sleeping at those times as it would hinder my sleep at night.I did feel sleepy at times while in office due to boring work or workload.I have also felt sleepy due to tiredness which can due to variety of reasons like travel and things like that. But then i would like to utilise time properly and to the best of the things and efforts.I do however feel sleepy at dinner after heavy feast. Its due to oxygen intake to food than to brain according to medical journals.Well, hold on for some more time and then you can leave home and take rest.Enjoy the time. Thanks!

It could be the people. It also can be the food.
Turkey is one food that makes you sleepy.
If you are tired by the people or activity, change it.

After we've eaten, our bodies are expending a lot of it's energy on digesting the food that we've just eaten. I tend to think that it is because of the fact that our body is concentrating a lot of its resources on digesting the food that we tend to really get sleepy after we've eaten.
For me, this isn't something that I experience all the time, but I have noticed at times when I eat more than I am used to eating that I will feel very tired shortly after I get done eating.

feeling sleepy after eating depends on the type or kinds of food you ate. some foods make you stay awake all night, and others make you very sleepy. Foods like rice make one sleepy, for it is heavy on the stomach

The sleepiness that you feel may have something to do with the kind of food that you ate and how you ate the food.
When food is still present in the stomach and the person overeats, overeating produces a biochemical shock on the whole organism due to factors related to heavy breathing. The solution for this problem is to chew food very well (to prevent overeating) or to eat half of the meal and wait for 20 minutes, waiting for signs of hunger. For nearly all people, they hunger disappears and they feel fine.

Actually, i think it's the carbohydrates that we take in that makes us so sleepy after eating lunch.
Besides, we are said two have to patterns of sleep, one in the evening and one after lunch, that's why after lunch we all get too sleepy, specially if one have eaten a big pile of rice!

Never had biology at school? It's normal to feel sleepy after eating. The digestion of food takes a lot of energy. So if the digestion starts most other organs get way less energy so they work slow(er). Which means your respons is slower, your reaction is slower, you have a harder time to think, you feel more sleepy.

Hi ungu
Yes it is common to every one after eating we will feel sleepy especially in the noon time. This happens because when you eat all the blood float right to your stomach in order to digest the food you have eaten, thus you have no will and mood for anything else, you just feel lazy and doing nothing. But it is not recommended to sleep after eating.
