So I've just heard about Paleo diets, wherein you copy the dietary practices of people who lived during the Paleolithic period (and make them modern, of course). From what I understand, that means more meat and tree-grown fruits and greenery rather than grains and domesticated animals, as well as a lack of oils.
Have you ever heard of it? Do you know anyone who tries it? And do you think you'll ever want to try something like it? The person I heard it from says she's actually healthier eating that way than she had before -- she used to be a non-strict vegan; I think vegetarian is the term? Vegans who still eat dairy products and stuff? -- but I'm a normal omnivore and can never really figure out the health pros and cons of other dietary practices.

Vegans don't eat any kind of animal products, including dairy. Most don't even eat honey. There are all sorts of modern vegetarian hyphens (ovo-lacto, etc.), but if you eat anything that doesn't come from a plant, you can't call yourself a vegetarian.
I have been seeing the word paleo and wondering what the heck people were talking about. I think following the dietary practices of that period will lead to the health issues of that period.
Any diet that prescribes more meat is more bad.

I know that a book named "The Paleo diet",wrote by Cordain,Loren.I haven't read it yet.
Speak of the diet, mine was a mess.As a office worker,i always eat fast food outside,as we all know,it lack of nutrition, let alone the health.
I should spend some time to read that book, maybe can help me build a health diet.

Yes I have heard of the Paleo diet and I have a couple friends who have done it and said that they felt much better after it. These friends train a lot for marathons and do other exercise and they said that it helped their bodies to perform better. I definitely see why this diet would make you feel much better and be much healthier. I would love to adopt a diet similar to this once I can afford it. Unfortunately a lot of grains are affordable and get the job done when you are hungry.
Vegans don't eat any animal products, no dairy and no eggs. Vegetarians just don't eat meat. A Paleo diet would be much healthier than vegan and vegetarian because there are certain vitamins and minerals in meat that you can't get from fruits and vegetables and you can't get as high of concentrations from plant based foods either.

I have never heard of this diet before so I serched it on net before I replied your discussion... this is what I found
The Paleo diet is the healthiest way you can eat because it is the ONLY nutritional approach that works with your genetics to help you stay lean, strong and energetic! Research in biology, biochemistry, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and many other disciplines indicate it is our modern diet, full of refined foods, trans fats and sugar, that is at the root of degenerative diseases such as obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, depression and infertility.

I've heard read a little bit from a paleo diet and I know a lot of people consume a paleo diet. I understand the paleo diet is pretty much spot on. I personally won't consume a paleo diet because we became vegetarians a year and a half ago.
The paleo diet eliminates pretty much all grains and the person only consumes grass fed meat (elimanating all corn, sugar and processed foods-GREAT!).
I wouldn't be able to eat this way, for the simple fact, I love my oatmeal every morning! I could probably live without rice and the other grains, but please don't take my oatmeal.

I heard this kind of diet but the term is not same , it is more of vegetarian foods. This is such an excellent diet. No toxins and preservatives we are taking in . I remember one friend says in a jest form that we should eat vegetable to be very strong and we won't get sick just like the horses and goats they are so strong and they seldom get sick. Honestly , sorry to tell but i am not a vegetable eater , especially the leafy ones . I don't know but i really don't like the taste and smell. I love to see those people whose mouth are bubbling with greens . I loved looking at them , so happy eating those thing . I am sad to myself , because i can't be as happy if forced to eat those. Wish to change and someday love vegetables because it is so rich in proteins and fiber , which is really good for our heart.
