I don't know if you saw, heard or read this news and I won't blame you if you won't believe on this one. I myslef have lots of questions...
When my husband came home, he told me about a news he read on internet which later on that evening we saw in tv. It's about an old Belgian woman who's about to meet someone in a train station which is 60 km away from her place. While driving her way to the train station, she only rely on her gps system installed in her car. Then she's driving and driving and driving...until 2 days after driving she realize that she might be lost, so she called someone at her home. Helloooowww!!! she's been driving for 2 days.. she had reached Croatia!! She passed 5 borders from Belgium to Croatia and she never realized where she was ?! Apparently, her gps system was malfunctioning and she never knew till she passed different countries. She just keeps on driving and driving, trusting that her gps will take her to the train station.
I don't know how true her story is but it's just funny and I had a good laugh with my husband last night.

Doesn't she have any idea how far the train from her house? Hasn't she noticed that she's been driving for days and didn't she stop to eat or pee? hmmmm.... she's too dependent with her GPS .. she should sue the maker. Weird.

I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Croatia. If my GPS told me to go to Croatia, I'd do exactly what it told me to do, no questions asked. :) I heard this story on the "Rediculist" segment of Anderson Cooper's AC360 on CNN. What a great story!! I'm thinking of getting a GPS just to see if it'll instruct me to go to Croatia. :)

Ha ha
I am fairly sure this is not true because if she every drove a car before she would have realised that even if she was driving with 30 km per hour she would have reached the train station in 2 hours.
Although come to think about it, it might take longer then 2 days if she pushed the car for the whole 60 kilometers to the train station

If that's true... OMG, how can someone be so stupid? Didn't it come to her that the signs and adverts are in a whole different language? That's the problem with people being too dependent on gadgets and electronic stuff... they forget to think on their own and wait for these gadgets to do everything instead of them... but it doesn't even cross their minds that the gadget can go wrong. Like when I hear the news about how some people from the US freak out when there's a black out... as if they cannot live without electricity, whereas anyone smarter would survive it without any huge problems by using flashlights and candles and eating fresh food or using a non-electrical oven, not to talk about having a normal toothbrush next to the electric one and all that jazz...

Poor lady. She must've thought that the train station was really that far away. But two days of driving? If my friend and I would be looking for a place and we would be driving around for thirty minutes, we would be sure we were lost and ask for directions. It's sad and funny that the old lady trusted her GPS too much.

Wow lol. I can't believe that it would take that long to figure out that you aren't going to the train station. But then again it does sound like something my daughter would do. I however am just a bit smarter than that. It's when I have to get around without a GPS that we may have a problem. My daughter and I are extremely directionaly challenged so we could get lost going around the corner in all honesty.

Hi vernaC
I feel this is ridiculous and this incident sounds hilarious to me! I mean yes, there are some people definitely out there who lack all the simplest of commonsense, but this goes a little beyond that How come a person keeps on driving for 2 days to cover a 60 km distance I mean, I have traveled 58 kilometers on bicycle and it took me 6 hours of continuous driving. And again, the cars or even the bikes travel faster and so I would get worried if I drove more than 2 hours for that 60 kilometers distance anytime...
And the only thing I feel good is that though she crossed so many countries, no one cared to stop her and check her papers or anything! That too seems odd but it still makes me happy to know this - because either these countries are well managed that they trust the people traveling or they have a poor management

this has happened before in mexico. Some of the border towns have just agate to go from usa to mexico. But to get back you need a visa or passport. Some border towns we call drunk spots. They have clubs and things here. Many americans cross to go there. And cant get back.

What made me laugh is - she only realized she was lost after two days
It's like, hello- 60km takes two days to reached?
Funny but poor lady.

Hi
Is this true story? if so how can she just go on driving without checking where she is ?and what about the security system of the countries when she crossed the borders. I also doubt her story.

Countries like Belgium have this opportunity to cross from borders to borders with a minimum check because of their Schengen Borders Code. So once their Id is checked the security let's them pass. But when you're in a different country, you must realize the writings, signs and perhaps the environment is already different right?
But anyway, let's just have a good laugh with her story.
