Till now, I have seen open cars i.e without roof, in real life I have never seen anybody going to shell out money on an open car. In reel life, we see protagonists going in his open car(beautiful red car) to a college and showing dude type of attitude and some sort of that. In the streets of Delhi(India) I have never seen open car running through out the year. Open car can neither protect you from sun in summer not it can from chilly winds in winter. And in Rainy, it's horrible. I would never spend my hard-earned money on that.
Do you love to buy an open car and thus making a statement? What's your say my lotters?

hmmm.... the open car is making a statement. I love open car... I like my hair to go through the wind. hahaha however, after the ride, my hair is as hard as the steel brush.. and the ends are tangled. LOL. looks like i brawled with 10 cats after. but I love the feeling of wind on my face and with flying hair.. feels sexy to me. lol

My hairs too became very hard when I used to drive my bike to the college. First thing I had to do on reaching college was to go directly to the washroom. feel sexy to me...that pretty nice.

I live in England, which is hardly the hottest or driest climate, in fact far from it. My Land Rover Defender, has a cab for winter use that unbolts leaving it open in the summer, where a roll of canvas can be quickly pulled across should it chance to rain. This gives the best of both worlds, warm and dry in winter yet still allowing me to enjoy the benefits of an open top in summer
all the best, urban

What's the point? To feel the wind in your hair and the rain biting your face, to suck the very marrow out of life and not to find that when it came time to die, discover, that you had not lived at all
all the best, urban

Oh English men love summer so much. If English summer weather is in India, people would say what a nice weather it is, neither too hot nor too cold, perfect for a outing. But still I have not seen anyone here, who go for such kind of cars. Just open the windows and feel the fresh air. What is the point in having roof also open.

For me, I do not have anything against convertibles but my main reason for not owning one is that it does not fit my lifestyle when half the time, I would need protection from bad elements from weather and human misdemeanors.
However, I would consider renting one when I am on a holiday driving in beautiful scenic and good weather destinations like Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand or certain parts of Europe where convertibles can increase my enjoyment of fresh air, sun and unobstructed view of the surrounding scenery.

When summer sets in England, most of the people may be seen in such convertibles. People love sun there a lot. In our part of the world, weather is at extreme (either too hot or too cold) so here convertibles may not be the best option. OK for holiday it may be nice to travel in such cars, enjoying every bit of scenic beauty.

A guy having passions for car can go to buy such cars if he can affords but just for showing off is something to ponder on. In my country, I have not seen a single convertibles. I have yet to see such cars in real life. If you just left your convertible open in a parking zone(on a bright sunny day) and suddenly rain happens, car is spoiled.

Most of the open cars today are those types which have a roof that comes up if you push a button, and comes down, when you push it again.
But I'd never buy one like that. I can't even drive, and I would feel really uncomfortable if the wind blew into my face or I heard every single voice from the outside... it would give me the creeps.

If you always drive closed car than it could be little problem driving an open car or a bike. You drive bike and you will get accustomed to it in a month. After that it's not going to give you any creeps.

i think buying an open car is waste of money because you should'nt risk the comfort and safety a normal car can give just to make a statement or to look cool.

But here a lot of people are in the contention of buying such cars. But I would go with you. I would only buy open cars if I have a hell of a money(like business tycoon). Happy New Year.

I think it's more of an personal interest. I would love to travel in an open car. My Mom own a jeep and at times I love driving it with roof removed!! Most of the open cars are usually convertibles where the roof is hidden just behind the back seat and it forms into a proper shape to give a roof to the car with just a push of a button!! So you don't have to really worry about season of the year.

My father had a convertible that he ended up giving me-and any time I could, I'd ride with the top down! Long before that, I owned an Isuzu truck with a removable back cover that left the back cargo area open but the hard roof over the passengers; I loved rolling up the back window or removing the entire top!
I agree-when it's rainy or cold, it's definitely NOT the time to have the top down; during the summer heat, the wind blowing around makes it comfortable as long as your hair isn't in your eyes!

Probably, I may too buy such a car but only when I have hell of a money and spending money on such cars doesn't reduce my bank balance much. I think such cars are for celebrities..

I think open cars are good for countries who has most of there months are sunny day rather than rainy days and other awful seasons, it's not really that convenient to use not unless you just want to brag or so much money to spend and owns so many cars to switch when the weather is bad but what I know these top down cars has also roof when needed.

I think most of the people who buy these kind of cars are really passionate about owning them and because they love driving open with wind hitting on their face. Off course there are some exception who own just to prove that they have got enough money, like you said.

have you ever driven one? before you go and rat out convertibles, drive one first.
In tropical countries, it is a pleasure to drive. You can enjoy the sun and the fresh wind. When the rain comes or you get to the city and you don't want the pollution, then you can always bring up your folding roof.
Most convertibles are more expensive than your regular cars actually. Try a Jag.
