This is such an embarrassing moment, I don’t know if you experienced such but it was so embarrassing that I had put up a little attitude while I was at a local clothe shop in my place.
Oka’y so here is the story, I was shopping along with my friends and we headed to scout for some good garments that are on sale.
As we were walking by we found this cool vintage shop and it was on sale so we didn’t hesitate to check it out, as I was going to the fitting room there was a Lady a customer who ask if there are other sizes on the shirt she found.
I was embarrass because there were a lot of people over the store and was looking at me, my friend also laughed out loud because of what the woman asked.
I told her that I am not a merchandiser and I am also a customer on the shop. She apologizes but that didn’t help in my embarrassment.
Have you ever encounter such situation wherein a fellow customer thought that you are an employer on a shop?
Please share your thoughts…

I think most of us experience this, in one way or another.
I have just experienced this the other day. As i was traversing the lane where the softdrinks are, i passed by a middle age woman. When i has my back on her, walking past her, she called, "Miss ,where can i find the big liter coke?"
So i turned back to look at her. But the moment she saw my face and the whole of my corporate look, she immediately said "I'm sorry" so apologetically.
So i asked myself, what is it in me that made her recognize at once, that i am not a sales lady? Could it be my make up?

I am just wondering how she can mistook me for a salesgirl, when all the sales girl has a uniform of bright yellow and green, while i wear a flesh blouse , jeans and in high heels.

Probably she's thinking of something else or preoccupied with the things she would buy at that shop resulting that she didn't mind that you are a fellow customer...

I guess because the shop was crowded a customer can't recognize who is the staff or not.

hi there heaytheblogger,
i have been there in that situation many times though i can still count it within the fingers of my hand. it happened to me when i was wearing the same color shirts as being wore by the sales lady. the customer thought that i was one of the sales lady who works on the department since the color of my shirt is same with them. i was so annoyed and pissed off with what happened because the customer didn't give me a chance to talk. though i am trying to say something, her voice was too loud so she can't hear what i am saying. that after sometime, the real sales lady approached her telling that i was also a customer. .

I'm sure I have. I vaguely remember an old lady asking me something and then, after getting a good look at me, stopped midsentence and said "Oh, I'm sorry. You don't work here." I think it might have more to do with them misjudging your actions than your appearance. Maybe you appeared as though you were busy working with the clothes rather than looking at them.

Thanks for your response...

That happened to me as well. And I got bit annoyebecause the other customer asked it rudely. Well, she deserves a rude response as well.

sometimes, it's quite annoying and putting strict attention draws the other customer that she/he made a mistake.
Thanks for your response...

People always seem to think I'm a salesperson or a worker in the store, even though I don't wear a uniform... and this even happened when I was like 14, and I didn't even look as old as my age, and in my country, it's not legal for teens under 16 to work... but still, people seem to suppose I work there :D. Maybe I have a trustworthy or nice face, I don't know :).
