Hi, I recently saw a post somewhere on the internet saying that music can increase your productivity because it makes you feel relaxed.
But I thing that it breaks concentration because I always hum with it.
What do you think?

I know several people who claim that they can study with music on. But this is not for me. But yes, music does increase productivity in the fields where reading does not exist. I sometimes makes graphics with music on. It makes me feel better. When I am making the graphic lots of bad thoughts come in my head and I started to get depressed. The music simply keeps my mind away from it. I have a friend who works for NASA. At his desk he keeps listening to music while working. His boss does not say anything to him against it. He said as long as the work is done, listening to music will never be a problem for that boss. So I guess, for some it is okay. But I really doubt that reading and writing can go smoothly with music.

I think it depends on the type of music and how long you are studying. When I listen to classical music like Mozart and Beethoven when I study, I am more productive but if I listen to it for too long it gets a bit boring and I can't concentrate any longer. Usually I switch to some pop songs after listening to classical music. I guess it also depends on the type of person.

I find that it helps a great deal and play music to make a task easier whenever I can. Sadly I cannot do this at work because I work on an office, so it would be impractical if the telephone rang. Music certainly does not distract me in any way, and if I am working on something at home I will listen to music. I am a lover of opera and find that if I am working on something that requires a little concentration, such as trying to configure a complex Excel formula for a spreadsheet that I am working on, then having a decent opera in the background makes life much easier.

It depends on the music you are listening to. If you want to increase you concentration, you need to listen to Mozart genre of music. Some researches also found that music can also increase the sales of Hypermarket based of retail market. Music has meaningful function in our life if we know exactly hot to engage it in our daily activities.
