Ok I might be getting ahead of myself since I still don't know if the house offer went through or not but I like to plan ahead. Have you ever hired professional house movers. How was your experience. I really don't have the time or the strength to move agin. I did see on the news once a moving company that was ripping people off. They were holding the personal stuff hostage in their truck until the owner paid extra to have their stuff released. Really scary to think of that happening.

When we moved home a couple of years ago we hired a team of proffessional movers. This was because as is common in the UK we had to move all the stuff from the old house to the new house in a single day.It would have been to stressful to have done all the moving ourselves on a single day.If you had longer to move the stuff we would have definitely have saved the money and moved the stuff ourselves. The company we used were recomended to us by family and they were very good and if we moved again and needed the service of a moving company we would definitely use them again.Though of course I would always like to be in the position to be able to move myself.

Make sure to check out the reputation of the company. Try asking some friends, relatives and neighbours who might have hired such a company in the past so as to gather a few recommendations from firsthand experiences. Then, ask for a quote at those companies.

My friend hired a moving company when she had to move halfway across the country with a baby and her husband working fulltime. They did an awful job of packing and many things broke in transit. I'd be careful to thoroughly research any company you go with.(some of those boxes looked like my toddler had packed them: random things thrown in haphazardly).

No, we have been strictly DIYers when it comes to moving--all of the many, many times we have moved. I don't think that I could just turn my stuff over to some moving company; plus, it is cheaper to move things one's self.
I did know a girl at my college who would work with either her family's or a friend's moving company; I forget now which it was. Yeah... Let's just say that knowing that she was employed with a moving company sort of did nothing to raise my level of confidence in moving companies.

the last time we moved we hired movers it was so nice and easy.the movers are supposed to come see what you have and then charge you by that plus the distance covered.it was also fun because they do all the hard boring work like packing and unpacking, they also arrange the things as you want them.i enjoyed the experience and would use it again.before when we did our own moving i kept loosing things, unpacking took forever,i hated packing especially utensils, but this people are so fast at this things it too us less than 4 hours to be moved and unpacked.

I think you choose professional mover, then they won't cheat because they must keep their reputation company. But choose profesional mover company has stand for 2 or more years. And if you don't sure then you can try ask another people about their reputatation before you use their service for moving.

Get a contract. Get it in writing, and if they violate that contract get your attorney involved. If they try and hold your stuff hostage, that's called ROBBERY, and you can call the police and get them involved. I have heard of that kind of thing happening, but I'm not that worried. I moved once, and it was just fine.

it's better ask help with the person that you knew well and at least more savely because the person you knew very well even you need to pay them without feeling of worry about that.
If you make a deal based on 'black on white' and also there's amount in there, you can pay before or after the movement your stuff the same as agreement on paper.

Lot of such incidents are coming into light, especially for last few months. Govt. is tracking such incidents and are catching the culprits. Govt. now have a list online about moving companies, their status and their reviews tagged along with their details, so that those searching for good services can check this list and get themselves a good trusty movers. I am tagging along a link that gives good tips on how to avoid such scamming movers and have a stress free moving.

I agree, while hiring movers few things should be considered in mind. First of all, the working quality of the movers. Gathering reviews about them from the internet or from friends, etc. Moving and carrying heavy items is stressful, and you may want to take the worry off the movers and give them some appreciation for their work. My friend has recently moved to a new place, professional help from the (http://www.movingrightalong.com/index.html) moving company queens, their work was excellent. John was so happy that he tipped them with a very good amount. If you feel you aren't receiving good service, don't feel compelled to tip.
