Good day Fellow Mylotters,
As I was thinking, if taking a bath everyday is part of healthy living. Hence, one of my housemate is not taking his bath everyday. According to him, he will just take his bath if he needs to go out and if he will do some errands. But, if he will just stay at home he won't. And this is the main reason why I am thinking this, hence, if he will not going to take a bath everyday, his hygiene will get affected. I really don't know his main reason why he is doing this except for the fact that he needs to save some cost from paying water consumption. And so, this is his way of saving, that a big amount of water will not be consume if he does not take his bath.

Its actually not good to take a bath or shower every day! Doctors will tell you that you should take one every other day because showering every day can actually hurt your skin. It dries it out really bad. So actually he is probably better off than you think he is!

Yes it is ,I don't think taking bath everyday means good hygiene. As baby told you ,it will hurt our skin if we do shower frequently.
For me ,I take bath every three days during winter.Of course ,I still keep washing after palying basketball or doing exercise.

Hi
Is it true? do the doctors say like that? I never heard about this concept.
What i feel is if we use the soap or any harsh chemical elements to clean our body then this will affect our body ,so if this is the problem then we can just clean our body with normal plain water without using any soap .But cleaning body is very important.

hahaha that's great. you must have a very thrifty housemate.. saving water.. why not. LOL. if he is in his right age already I don't think that it is a problem whether he follows good hygiene or not. He knows already the implication and the result of not proper hygiene so he has not to be reminded of whatever it is all about. It is his body anyway...
Stepping out of the discussio:
Sometimes men are so lazy to take a bath.. hehhe... just reasoning out saving ... lol.

not scientifically proven and totally no basis. this is just a mere hearsay from the women chatting over the cup of coffee... Those husbands who started to frequently take a bath means he has a mistress. hahahaha . I don't know really if this is true just for the discussion sake. LOL.
and besides if no male will refute this.. Men are lazy to take a bath, this proves that this is true. LOL

hi,
i think taking a bath is one way to have a healthy body, because it will wash some dirt in our physical to lessen some diseases and sick from bacteria, and aside from that there are many ways on how to save water consumption,we have many options to do that.

It's always an interesting question. I just got to know it yesterday that there are nations where there is a whole different bathing/showering culture than in my country. (I'm not going to name the countries, because there might be some people who feel offended, because I know a whole nation's hygenie doesn't equal the individual's there). In my country, it's the norm to bathe daily, or it's the common thing. But in lots of countries, they bathe every 2 days or even less, and it's normal there. I would feel dirty if I didn't bathe at least every two days... but I understand the money saving concept, water is ridiculously expensive these days, especially hot water. I usually bathe daily, but sometimes I do skip having a bath when I stayed at home, didn't get sweaty or dirty etc. I don't think if someone takes a shower or a bath regularly, at least 4 times a week, they are going to get diseased or they would be smelly or ungroomed. Especially nowadays with so many nice and strong smelling perfumes and colognes.

I do not agree with him. Of course, he might save water when he do not take a bath but he will be more suffered into shortage of money because he might get ill because of his unproper personal hygiene. He might get sick for what he is doing conserving water and not taking a bath.

It's better to take a bath every other day actually. Taking one every day is bad for our skin!

Well in cold countries not taking bath for days might be possible, but what about other countries which are hot? Somehow I feel it is a personal choice but not taking a bath, I feel is not good for hygiene. You feel fresh and ready to do work if you take bath. Otherwise laziness encroach upon you.

It is indeed very important that we take bath every day. Because taking bath cleanses our body, the sweat pores. Reduces body odor keeps skin fresh and away from diseases. But in a way if your friend does not do any body movement. Or anything that makes his body dirty. He can take bath alternate days. But not taking bath until he leaves home, is not good. As he might leave home after a week or so. Does that mean he never bathes for a week?

hi there! you're housemate has a point there. If you're housemate wants to save then he or she is just being practical. You have a good point too that this will affect his or her hygiene. It got me thinking too honestly, if he or she will do this for a long time, I think your housemate might spend a lot of money in the hospital if ever he or she got sick as the cause of not taking a bath everyday. There are more cheap ways in getting your body clean without having to worry about water bills at all. why not suggest to your housemate to have a clean container for water especially for taking a bath and have it stocked in the bathroom.that way, your housemate would not have to use the faucet everytime right?. I hope this can help . :)

He is not really helping himself by saving water. He is making a bigger problem out of this. Just imagine how much medicines cost if he gets sick because of his poor hygiene. Maybe the amount of money he saves from water consumption is not big enough to cover is medical bill!

Do you mean by taking a bath the bath tub? First of all a a bath tub does need a lot of water, also after being in the tub you need to shower (since sitting in your dirty water is not hygenic at all). Taking a shower uses less water but also without a shower one can wash him-/herself and save water. It's not said that people with a bath tub or shower are more hygenic as those who do not have it. BTW I wonder how expensive the water is. In my country gas, electricity costs way more.

Hi
I don't think he is wrong. Even i heard many stories like this where people wont take bath everyday. If the climate of the place is cool and the persons body don't give any bad odors(sweat) then its good even if we don't take bath daily.
But cleanliness is very important overall. For every action there is an opposite reaction. Dust mites which live in the bed travel with us all day if we don't take a bath. These microscopic insects live in between the fibers of the sheets and literately eat us alive. so overall better to take bath everyday.

Being a Filipino, taking a bath or shower everyday is already part of our life. And I guess most Filipinos couldn't live a day without taking a shower/bath. And if I were in your house mate's situation, I wouldn't really mind whether I would pay a higher amount of water consumption as long as I could take a shower 2 times a day! :)

I think there are much better ways to save water. You tell him to take a bathe every single day...

Probably that is his main reason- to save water (nice huh).
I can't stand a day without taking a bath even during rainy season.
Or maybe your housemate is used to it (not taking a bath everyday)

In comparison electricity will cost more than water.
He should take bath to cool his body and also for hygiene
purpose. If he do not take care of his hygiene, if he fall
sick then the medical bill will even cost higher. However,
we should not waste water, it is an important resources to
mankind. Perhaps he should just take shower which won't
consume much water compared to bath.

it really depends on individuals out there . Take me for instance . I do bath almost everyday when i have office and need to go out. But when I am on leave and staying back in house, i might or might not take bath . As long as I feel fresh and clean without the bath, i do not take bath when I am at home. If i feel a little bad for myself , i will just go and take a shower. after all taking bath is to clean ourselves and be fresh. What is the point in taking bath even when you are clean and fresh??
