Thinking What SEO Activities for Begineers

I just invited this new opportunities to teach about basic and advanced SEO or search engine optimization. I just created the module for this class but I'm still working on what activities to give for this students. Any ideas for experienced SEO teacher it will help.

Once you've been invited to teach this, I guess they know that you're already know the SEO topic. Be confident with things that you already know 
Some thoughts, probably:
- Learn about who your students are. Are they literate enough with computers, blogs, and such thing?
- Content is always the king
- PageRank, backlink, traffics
- Some useful plugin for SEO
