I was sooooooo excited we were finally getting some snow over night 2-3 inches they say...(yes to many people that isn't much but it's been a while since we had snow. last winter it was warm the whole time no snow at all.)...it was a mixture at first the switch h ed to straight snow coming . down hard it was sticking to the ground and everything. my kids were all excited to wake up to snow..well the snow stopped and with in that hour it was all melted and gone. I woke up to a tiny patch of snow on the top of my car. my kids woke up very sad...the season will come to end but I hope we get at least 1 Good snow before it's over. I love the snow and that is one reason I would love to move up north with my husband to be close to his family. has this ever happened to you?? did you get any snow last night? how much? do you enjoy the snow?

Oh you know I love snow; I say it is the only reason to put up with the cold air! Now I like it warm all the time better, but for now since I am here where it snows, I like the snow. I have (4) 4WD vehicles in various states of modification (lift kits, mud tires, locking differentials, anti-lock aftermarket brakes etc), that I play in the snow with, as well as snowboards and cross-country skis. Heck I don't even clean out my driveway any more, as you need 13" of snow before you get to the lowest part of my least-lifted 4wd, so why bother, I just clean the walkways. Nothing beats the picturesque view you get when fresh snow is on the trees and untouched on the ground. We tend to drive up into the mountains when there is heavy snow just to watch it, plus that is the best time to ride snowboard. I don't do parks or pipes with my boards, I like to find fresh powder and carve my way through it.

I can usually get down the hill without falling; I'm not much into speed, and fresh powder doesn't give you much speed anyway, you just have to watch out for the trees (since I am not on groomed slopes trees can be an issue). It's nice and quiet on the powder, no lifts over there.

ok so i really wanted to ask and i dont mean to be rude with it....you mentioned trees....have you hit one before? i am asking because that has always been a fear of mine if i ever got the chance to try and learn. powdered snow is what i would have to start off on to because i dont think i could learn going really really fast lol. i am sure i will fall enough as it is

are you good at snow boarding and all that?? that is something I have always been interested in but never had the chance or enough snow to really learn. I love how it looks on the trees and road and yards I just don't get to see it much anymore. sounds like a lot of fun. I hope I get to try it one day. you sound very prepared for a big snow unlike us but you also seem pretty use to it lol.

wow 10 years?? that's a long time. Good to know you and your friends still get a chance to see the snow and experience it. I've never had the chance to learn to snowboard but that is something I would love to get the chance to do sometime in my life.

I use to live in Texas where there was not a lot of snow and now I am in California, but not in Tahoe, so I do not see snow here at all at least for now. I think that it is crazy that the snow comes and goes haha. I have had it happen in Texas a few times, but there were also times where you wished it did not snow, because Ice was every where. Yeah I see a lot of rain in California where I am located, but no snow right now unless I go to Lake Tahoe.

here where i live that is what we mostly her "ice" even if we do get snow on the ground usually by the next day or sometimes the same day there is a coating of ice that covers the snow. people here really cant drive in the snow.. i want to say some parts of texas got snow this night but i could be wrong i am not sure if he storm reached that far or not. there are times idont want it to snow but really i miss it so any amount of sow that would just last 1 day would be goo for me.

i always exciting to see the snow before, because i use to live intropis area. all my friend who lived in that kind of situation always complain about the snow. they always has a problem when they drive, and it's dangerous. that mean they never enjoyed it. so my conclusion is good to see the snow but i will never happy to live in that kind of situation.

people here where I live definitely do not know how to drive when we do get snow and they never listen to the warnings about staying off the road. my husband use to work for a towing company and when it snowed it was the worst with wrecks. I love the snow to but I do know when to stay off roads. I enjoy it from the comfort of my own home lol

No snow last night, and only had 1 good snow. We are in Ohio and usually get plenty. We are in for the cold temps this week.

I am about 100 miles north of Columbus. We are getting a little snow, just enough to coat the ground right now. They had not said anything about snow yesterday, but they are saying that we could end up with 1-2 inches by tomorrow. I like to see one good snow, but then it can be done. I have a son in a wheelchair and it makes it almost impossible to get him out, as the mess it makes when he comes in is such a mess.

May I ask where in Ohio you live? (only if you feel like telling me) I have some friends who lived there and they had 1 snow that I remember was worth while but I think they had a few other snows flurries. are the cold temps suppose to bring you more snow? do you enjoy the snow?

Man I would have loved to have snow on Christmas. It never really feels like Christmas unless it is cold and to have snow on Christmas just makes it that much more perfect. Today I am getting snow but it is a entry mix. Already closing schools early and the sleet has started. Let's hope it spent get to bad. Whatever happened to just getting snow no ice just snow??

We didn't get any real snow yet either-and that's fine with me. The last four or five years have been crazy-some years, we got 2 feet of snow! I don't do well in snow-my body doesn't like the cold, and it seems that while everyone around here is accustomed to driving in it, they really CAN'T drive well in it. Plus I hate shoveling it. We're supposed to get a bit overnight, but I'd be happy if we didn't. I want to move to somewhere more moderate-and where the humidity is low.

yes the past few tears have really b even crazzy last Christmas I was in shorts because it was warm outside. I have a very bad knee so when the weather gets really really cold I hurt bad but I still try and make the best of it because I still love the snow a lot it is very beautiful. trust me . people around here can not drive in the snow and ice either and they can't understand the warning if stay home. where would you like to move to?

I've been to Dallas; it didn't really get humid (at least not to me, but I am from Jersey, on the west coast (10 miles from the Delaware river) and the humidity killed me. A typical summer day was over 85% humidity with a heat index of 90 or more degrees. I liked it in Vegas-I was out in 100 degree heat but didn't really feel it. My inner thermometer is all screwed up-I've been know to where a sweatshirt in 80/90 degree heat! I'd like to live in western NC, but I was never there during the summer months.

i have never had the chance to visit anywhere on the western side exept 1 time as a kid and i was so young i barely remember it. i am use to heat indexes that high. i live in about the middle of North Carolina and it really does get hot in the summer time. my husband does the same thing with the sweat shirt. he gets very cold very easily and sometimes i freeze him out with the air because I am hot.

Snows beauty for me is great in small amounts. Everything shines with the beauty as it falls. The ice melts away eventually and we have to wait for the spring...

i like a good snow but i agree with you it isnt as beautiful when there is a whole bucnh of snow but when it covers the trees and the covers the ground just enough to where it is all covered in white it very pretty to look out and see. yes sooner or later all the ice has to melt and spring comes around the corner. i love the spring time to and hearing all the birds and all the flowers blooming and the treed turning green is also another site i enjoy seeing.

I do love the snow, and I wish it would snow more here... My kids are missing out on having snow as kids like I did growing up. My favorite thing in the world as a child was playing in the snow. So, it makes me sad that my children will not enjoy it like I did. =(

My husband wants to move up north where he is from. The kids would always get to see snow. I agree that was the best thing to do as a kid. We made snowmen and igloos and made snow angels. It was great. I want my kids to get a chance to experience that.

I am not a snow person at all. I'd prefer a day like yours to what we've had. Trade you? We have had a couple semi-big storms here and still snow ont he ground. It freezes every day so far, since the storms. It is nice to experience a first snow, but, after that I hated it.

I will gladly trade you any day we get a lot of ice here to. Like today we are getting a winter mix. The sleet has already covered the ground and that is just the beginning. It is suppose to bring a lot more later on today.

I love snow. We usually have several good snowstorms each year but we've only had two, I think, this winter. I hate it when the forecast says it's going to snow and then it doesn't. I keep going back to the windows or outside and begging for snow! It was really perfect for Christmas this year, though, because it snowed on Christmas Eve and into Christmas morning. We got around 6 inches if I remember right.

I do the same thing when the weather calls for snow. I really hate when they say your getting a lot of snow and then we see maybe a few flakes. I love a white Christmas but I rarely get to see that. I have a few times but it's been a while. Wow I would have loved to have been where you are at Christmas time.

One winter shortly after we first moved to this part of the country, there was a snowfall of about 2 inches. I was shocked when the schools were closed for the day. I soon learned two facts. First, snow was such a novelty that there were teenagers who had never seen snow. Second, Texans don't know how to drive in inclement weather of any kind, especially ice and snow.
• United States
25 Jan 13
my husband is from up north so he is use to the snow. When he came down here and the schools closed for an inch of snow he was in shock. He also learned fast that the south can not drive.

We've had snow before, not as much for the past few years but ... maybe I'm 'disillusioned' about snow, as I no longer see it as 'cold confetti' but more like 'miniature sleet.' What's the difference between snow & sleet (and is sleet the same thing as hail?) But yeah, snow to me is just 'extra-messy rain' (rain whose effects stick around a little longer---instead of just being wet, it's wet AND cold AND slippery )
• United States
22 Jan 13
i dont know where you are located at but it has been like that for the past few years here also. each year we could always count on atleast 1 or 2 good snows and we havent got that. i never really looked at snow as "cold confetti" but that is a good way of looking at it really but i wouldnt call it miniture sleet. well sleet is little balls of ice and well snow it is more like...well it is ice in a sence but it isnt balls of it and snow doesnt really get all that big but sleet gets huge. and to answer your question i am not sure and i might try to look that up later because i have also woundered about sleet and hail.... that is the only down fall for snnow really....i hate wen it gets rea;;y slippery and people around here do not know how to drive at a;;!!

Up here in Montreal we can't complain! plenty of snow and weird weather! for example today we woke up to mild temperatures,( 33 F ),and then the crazy started! we had everything, from thunder, rain, ice pellets snow, blizzard conditions, white out, sun, then more of the same! and all accompanied by strong winds. Also the temperature dropped to about 15F (-4F) with the windchill factor! That means that is very cold! And this will be for the week. The temperature will go even lower.I honestly hope that it will be the last cold snap of this winter!!!! I guess I rather have your weather!

Wow the weather really is all over the place where you live. I hope you were able to stay safe in all the crazzzy weather you had. We feel the same way. I would rather have your weather just once. I've never had weather as you explained. Today we are suppose to have a big wintry mix weather. The sleet has already started. Hope we get some snow with it at least. They are closing all the schools at 12 today because of it.

That is a great way to word it...God does know where it is needed more and maybe that is just what he is doing. Your right it does seem as tho places that use to get snow are not and places that haven't seen snow in years are...I guess that is how life goes

I hope that one day you are able to experience the beauty of snow. it is a very calming beauty. it is nice to see it on movies but to see it right in front of you is so much nicer. I love to just look out at the white purity and beauty right after a good snow fall.
