Perhaps the best Indian street food. Pav means a loaf of bread and bhaji means vegetable dish. The bhaji typically is a pulpy mixture of the most commonly available vegetables in India, such as onion, green peas, chopped capsicum ec.
You get even a lot of variety in the dish like cheese Pav Bhaji, Masala Pav Bhaji, Jain Pav Bhaji, Dry Fruit Pav Bhaji etc.
Pav Bhaji is sold all over the country. One of the best Pav Bhajis I have had is at Juhu Beach, Mumbai. They usually serve it with onion and lemon.

I have a memory to share reagrding Pav Bhaji :-)
It was my birthday when I was in college. I took my friends, including my girl friend ;-) for a party at a Pizza & fast food corner. When our order came, it was a embarrasing situation. Boys just took away all the food & were eating like anything. I was embarrased to see girls waiting for their turn. I shouted at some of my friends to behave & show some courtesy. But all in vain. Finally I was frustrated & embarrased. I left the place with my girl friend after paying the bill. I have had nothing at the fast food corner. So we two went to a famous Pav Bhaji centre thereafter. It was fun celebrating my birthday with my girl friend having a Pav Bhaji at a famous junction :-)
A birthday that I will always remember :-)
