Being the parent of students. I have to make sure they are up and about in time. So, i take note of what routines do they take the longest to complete and then we conquer the smaller tasks first.
We also have to keep in mind the two other working adults in the house meaning that some things are taken care of the night before.
We always have time to sit together and watch cartoons or have conversation until time to go wait on the bus.

Hi, stringer. That's a great idea to learn what your children are learning.
I try the best I can. My only downside is math. My younger daughter really struggles with it and has to get tutoring with hers because I'm unable to help with most of it. I wonder if we both don't have some mild form of dyscalculia.
If you ask around to some of the teachers, they will probably help you with some materials. Ours will give us text books to keep at home if we ask.

You are such a nice mother. My mother used to help me with the homework until the age of 12. After then, the level was too high and she didn't remember things, but, I was able to learn and manage myself.
If I become a parent to students, I will read some of the material they learn so I can help them, hoping I can understand what they learn. I'm sure they will have many tasks to do and I will try to make studies fun and easier for them. Maybe I will get extra books or prepare them with material I can find before they start studying.

Thanks for replying. Yeah. Train your children first of all because you will get them to a habit to be always punctual. Start at an early age.

The problem is that you need to wake up early when you don't want to sleep anymore.
Most of the times, I have to wake up while I still want to stay in bed. It can make me lazy and get up on the last minute.
Waking up early can help if you slept enough or if you are ready to get up.
Some motivation can help and the first thing to do is to just smile and think the day will be wonderful, everything will work as we plan the day before.

That's what I do. I pack up my things the night before. I rest early and wake up early make this a habit. But sometimes you think the day is not enough so you still do things at night longer.

I've got no New Year's resolution and even if I have one I won't include that. LoL! Coz I seldom comes to work late. I usually get up early in the morning so I can do a lot of things – have breakfast, iron my clothes if there’s nothing left ironed, fix my things to bring for work, and I can even chat sometimes and play games for at least 15-20 minutes.

I'm only up so early when there's work. Other days including holidays, I'd be sleeping as long as I like Uhmmmmnnn... no I don't sleep early. Me and my roomies usually have lots of activities after work or after dinner... games at home, movies, drinking, exchanging stories, doing the house chores.... or sometimes roaming outside and coming home late.
But I'm glad I slept a bit early last night... 10:30PM

Yeah. Some people have made it a habit to wake early no matter what day it is. I can say you also sleep early don't you?

Me too. I always have a feeling that the day is not enough. Coming home although tired from work, you still want to do something. Why does this happen? hehehe

My resolution or *goal* for the new year is to get that personal trainer certification out of the way. I've been wanting in since 2009 and I'm getting it this year.
I'm usually very punctual or early. I hate being late, it's rude and careless. This is the way I was taught, and it has stuck with me all of my adult life.

Well, I have learned to put on my makeup in record breaking time. I am probably one of the few women who can quickly apply makeup. YEAH! And yet, still have my sweetheart, my hubby, say I look good. Mine you, he has told me I look good even without makeup. He is scheduled for an eye exam and now, I am not so sure I want him to have that eye exam. :) He might end up with glasses that could help him see better. Ummm...
I usually iron my clothes a few days ahead and get all my things ready ahead, Usually. I put my things that need to go to the car in front of the door, so that I am not wasting time looking around for library books or things I need to take to church or to a meeting, etc. If I put things in front of the door, that means they are ready to go OUT the door.
I first started this system, when my kids were teenagers and our family was getting ready to go on a picnic. I packed the cooler and put it in front of the door. One of my kids, who was first out the door, opened the door and pushed it aside. Everyone else didn't see the cooler. So, I had to trained my family - 'if something is in front of the door, that means it goes into the car. If you are first out the door, you have the job of putting it into the car'. This took some training but finally my family 'got it' and this system did work.
Now, its just my hubby and me and we both know if something is in front of the door, it goes out to the car.
This system does work (with a little training) and it saves a lot of TIME.

Hi hi, I like how you describe your family with the training :)
If I have something to do for tomorrow, I just make some scenarios like how I get up from the bed, what I do, what I use and what I will have to take with me.
It can save me a lot of time with searching where I put my money, where I put my papers.
I think you just have to show your family what everyone has to take to the car and what to do when they get up in the morning.

Thanks for responding zoejoy. Yeah, women take so much time in preparing and grooming before to work or school. Even before picking up what to wear or putting makeup, they already take so much time on the bathroom. They also have to dry their hair and put on lotion and others. This may take time and be the cause of being late. Well for you, you have found out how to put makeup in a breeze and that's advantageous to you. You might as well just put light makeup because your hubby said you are already beautiful.
Yeah stringer, always put things which it can be seen so that you won't search for them anymore.

We all want to manage our time efficiently. I usually plan my days work before starting. If I wake up late in the morning I make a routine and try to follow that.
In my school days I was a lazy guy. I think it becomes a hassle if we don't plan the office work beforehand. After going to our office we realize that much time is wasted. I also distribute my work so that I don't get bored.

Planning in advance seems to be the key for success in many problems I have seen so far. It helps with studies, work, everyday life, relationships, shopping, almost everything we do, we can plan in advance and consider some scenarios and see how it goes. Of course we can never be ready for everything, but, in most cases, it is the practical way.
One thing is missing and it is the step that makes sure we actually will follow our plan. Sometimes I make myself a good plan, but, I stop following it after some time.
I don't know why, but, sometimes, things are harder than I first think.

Yeah. Be prepared as good as possible even though we can't be really fully prepared. Surely being lazy will kill time and make you late for the appointment.

I have a doctor associate I meet twice a month. Every single time she is late. It drives me nuts. I'm not kidding. She has not been on time ever. And I can't switch because I know her outside of the doctor realm. She goes to my church. And it would hurt her feelings if I switched. She's also even late to church!

Being more time efficient is a good one to add to diet and healthier eating. I like to be atleast ten minutes earlier for my appointments. I like to let them know I am there. Only right. I know about how long it takes me to get ready so I have my daughter start the car so it can warm and get my grandson looking for whatever he wants to take with him. It just takes alittle planning ahead.

Yeah. It's hard because I like to sleep. I wanted to grow taller and I need to have more than 8 hours of sleep.

When I need to do some things on the up coming morning, I set the alarm clock one hour before I need to get up, so, when it rings, I can have 1 hour to think how I'm going to do what I have to do, sleep some minutes and wake up more ready.
Planing tomorrow is very good but, only if one actually follows the plan and no surprises come up. Motivation can help very much : you tel to yourself " Here I am, take control of tomorrow, nothing will surprise me, I have everything I need, I plan a good plan for tomorrow and I will do everything on time and enjoy it".
Encourage yourself will help you follow your plan.

You've got a sound advice in there stringer! I usually do that alarm thing too. Also, as added motivation for me to wake up, I always tell myself to get up early to catch the beautiful lady that I usually would come across with early in the morning. Getting late means I won't be able to see her, so it adds up to the motivation! So what are your motivation techniques anyway?

There is a nice lady who walks in my street as a sport every day at 9:00 o'clock lol.
When I see her, I tell to myself it will be a beautiful day.
She reminds me Tomb Rider, lol. She increases my moral.

Before when I was working to save time and not to be late in my work I do my make up in the taxi and I'm really good at it.. In my kind of work we are required to wear make up so I really have to find a way so I can save time to do other things.. so when I arrived at work and if I'm lucky I can still eat my breakfast..

Hey neelia27,
Doing some of your works on the way to your office or to the collage is a good idea but this idea works if you have a private vehicle. I am an one who just uses public bus to travel and I cannot do that in the bus because tehre may be many ones who watch me.

Well, do everything to save time. Who cares if they would watch you do your makeup or comb your hair. I see frequently women in the bus doing their makeup and some do it when they are already in the office.

Well, I'm always late in my morning class. I have been doing some ways to avoid that now. I set my alarm three times. But sometimes I just can't avoid being late. Transportation sucks, but I know I can't use that as an excuse. But it's my number one problem in the morning, plus not to mention the traffic. The only solution that I can try is that to wake up even more early. Until now I'm really trying....

Wake up 1 hour plus the hours you need to prepare earlier. You know how it is unpredictable the traffic and you should know that. Wake up earlier than expected. It's just discipline. Before I used to be late all the time but now I am at working so I carry a greater responsibility and be punctual always.

To help me from not being late for work,I make sure my work clothes are in the bathroom the night before. So when I get dressed, everything is there. My shoes are right out side my door and so is my coat. I also keep my car/house keys hooked on one of my purse straps so I don't have to look for them when I need them! That is some of the things I do to aviod being late.

I am an one who just plan to move from the home at 8:30 but certain activities make me late on some days which makes me late. there were days I moved from my home at 9. i find that bathing is the activity which makes me late but I can't stop doing it at the morning. I find it as very important. Bathing in the morning keeps me cool and fresh and help me to do my things well in a confident way.
I find the perfect solutions for it:
To get up early in the morning
But in practical it is not working

Yeah. Bathing is important. But sometimes in important situations where I lack time, I just take a bath coming back from work. I can't do nothing about it. Bathing does take time and eats a lot of time.

Haha..That was one of my New Year's resolution and I cannot still make it. I felt as if I am always tired so I love sleeping and so it leads to be tardy. But I have a motivation right now.
