Friends , do you look at first the avatar/ profile picture made by the people whom you are joining and commenting ? I am doing that friends , i don't know but i am more attracted to answer and join people's discussion if he or she having an avatar. When i discussed i felt i was talking to them. Thought not a real photo or real not important , as long as there was a representation of the owner then that is it. Unless the discussion is very interesting though without an avatar i will join the discussion .For me having an avatar/ profile photo in the profile is big a factor for us to be recognized by our fellow Mylotters. Share me some of your thoughts my friends.

Your avatar is like your identity , even though i may not look at your name first , looking alone in the picture will tell that it is you ! Avatar help builds your name in Mylot or to any site. So i want to say if having an avatar is an advantage . it would be the very first thing to be noticed so i will be reading a post then if find post worthy , i will interact through giving comments.

Aka , yes that avatar of silver made us not to forget her , unique right and though not reading her name still we would know that it's the post of Silver. Just my opinion it is good to change avatar frequently because it helps build your identity in the community.

i don't really care about other people's avatars when responding to topics. as long as it's interesting for me and i can relate to it, you can expect to read my post there.

I gave important to the discussion which have avatar in their profile , it attracted me to read their post and usually i really end up reading and commenting in that work of course the content must be there to make me more attracted to it .

I don't really pay attention to profile pictures... I've had the same one for all the years I've been at myLot I understand that you feel "connected" to people by their picture but, with so many people using fake photos of some other person, a celebrity, etc., I don't feel any attachment to that. Certainly, I "recognize" discussions because the av/profile picture is familiar - but subject lines of discussions grab my attention MUCH quicker.

Hello Thinking ! Your name really describes you ! You are really thinking , indeed brilliant ! You get what i liked to mean in my discussion , thats's it , that's really it !!! I felt something when i saw an avatar in the profile , and yes you get the right word , CONNECTED ! That is maybe just my nature ,i felt if there is that avatar there is that pull or attraction for me to start reading a post and if there is none , like i don't feel attracted unless the owner is bit famous in Mylot then i would go reading it or the topic is bit controversial ,interesting and emotional then i would really take time reading it.

Haha I never think of that,I mean I never feel that the avatar profile will lead people to join the discussion, and as for me I am more prefer to the real image rather than some fake one, though my image is not my picture just some landscape.haha.

I have to agree that it may catch the attention of members, who are then a little more likely to notice the discussion. It is unlikely to be sufficient to persuade people to respond, but if it makes the discussion more noticeable then it could help indirectly.

You image is enough for one to be attracted to read your discussion. Try to compare reading a post of a newbie with and without a profile . Isn't it that you will read first the one having an avatar and do commenting then. That is what i mean by having an avatar , it attracts other Mylotters.

Angelpink you have idea to start your discussion when you see me start a discussion about avatar. Hehe. For me avatar is not a factor to me to respond in discussion. I respond if i feel interested with that discussion or i understand with that discussion. But without avatar it replace with cartoon picture which is like someone say 'hi'. It was funny for me.

Partly true Aka , but what ignites my mind to think about it was when i read that post which says that she got many comments coming from be newbies , and when seeing those things those i noticed that those newbies got no profile pic , 90 % of them. So questions and suggestions popping in my mind such as one was , this people should have an avatar , so they can make an identity for themselves and so that they can catch the attention of the fellow Mylotters thus winning more comments and friends too.

I think you not comfortable because you think someone make mutiple account when they dont have avatar especially when their user rating very low.

For me discussion should be the good and interesting one to comment on it. The profile picture doesn't matter to me. Its not necessary that person with a good picture will be having a good discussion. I comment on the discussions of many posters which do not have a profile picture but the discussion they started were the good ones.

Hello Intel ! I agree the beautiful profile doesn't mean good discussion , that is very true , mine is i would be more comfortable and confident to comment in the discussion if i saw i profile picture because at the back of my mind it says that there is a person behind this profile picture , meaning i am talking to something and not to nothing. This is how i look at it.

No, that doesn't bother me at all. Some people don't know how to do their avatar or don't have one in mind. That doesn't mean they don't have anything interesting to say, you know? It shouldn't make a difference, as long as it's good content and pleasant. You might be missing out on some pretty interesting conversations by doing what you're doing.

If i am to be asked , i want to see more a profile with something else , may it be a flower , an animal or your real photo than a profile a blank profile. Like it makes the profile looks good and complete if there is something there , in short in gives life to a profile and that is the very thing that tempted me to read the post , then if find it useful and interesting i will comment then.

Yes that is true , but it is more beautiful to reply many comments because we will be earning more and to reply many comments ,one should have plenty of commentators and for me to attract plenty of commentators is to have an avatar. People would be able to identify you quickly so it is easy and fast for her to comment . Also some would ve so curious as to whose profile are they seeing , so to know and to discover is to start reading the post.

A pleasant day Angelpink,
With regard to the title of your post, honestly in this site, I seldom consider the avatar of the person though it is a part of his/her representation. Thinking they might not want to change the avatar or don't care at all though they want to participate and post a discussion. Being at this site, what matters to me is the topic being posted and discussed, the learning that I can gain, people that I meet virtually and the earnings that I can generate. I do respect those people who do not want to change their profile pic nor their avatar. Hence, sometimes, avatar does not clearly speaks a factor to the person who uses it.

Hello Aira ! I agree with you , what is important in Mylot is the topic , the learning that we got and the things that we shared but isn't it that when we read a post , we then check who is the writer , then that's the time to write comments ? Sometimes accept it or not that even though we don't liked that topic much but because she's familiar , we give a beautiful and inspiring comment ?

I love avatars, they add colors, pictures, and make myLot pages much more interesting. When they were glitches and the avatars were gone, the pages become boring and I found it harder to recognize people here. Yet, I'd still join any discussions I find interesting even if avatars were missing.

Sishy that is what i am pointing it out here , avatars gave life to our space here in Mylot and it helps us identify fellow Mylotters easily without even reading their name . I joined discussion for those who let their profile blank if they are quite famous here and if their topics are quiet catching and intriguing . I want to encourage those who remain their profile blanks , to place some avatar there for it can make their profile more attractive and interesting.

no I just respond if I know what to respond to or if i don't know what the discussion is about to clarify.. but is just sometimes. If the the discussion is too difficult or too technical I don't respond. ... It doesn't matter to me whether the person has the profile photo or not. as long as the discussion is interesting. why not.

That is also what i mean if the topic is so much beautiful then we can hardly resist from commenting though without avatar and the owner is already familiar to us but what about if it's the newbie and the topic don't appeal that much good isn't it that you don't feel like reading it but though newbie but with a very attractive avatar , you will be tempted to read and comment. Oh you also don't have it , but look at your post i commented them be cause you are bit familiar in Mylot. You got a name already here.

Avatar isn't important for me when I get to join a discussion, I go for what arouses my interest nevertheless... Well, but if you say that an avatar can make some appeal to one's profile then it is indeed in some point.

If a person do have a avatar like he is presenting himself in good package or like you are a good brand in Mylot . Just like in buying something , isn't it that we go for brand more , than no brand at all ? It is just like a profile , we view more the profile if we are seeing something , then next to looking is commenting right ?

I like to see a variety of avatars rather than the default image which is displayed for those who have not uploaded one. I tend to feel that if a member is prepared to select and upload an avatar then they have definitely decided to settle in, otherwise it would not justify the effort.
Despite my preference for seeing avatars, I do not allow this factor to influence my choice of discussions to respond to. The factors that really matter are a topic that appeals to me and the quality of the discussion. I will pass by those with a good avatar that offer nothing of interest to me and will respond to an interesting discussion without a personal avatar.
You rae right that it helps other members to recognise you, but I do occasionally change mine anyway.

I look at the topic rather than the avatar. Avatar has nothing to do with how interesting a topic would be for me to respond. But I do respond more to topics that are posted by users who I have been interacting with, frequently.
