Power concert for stress?

I am allergic to stress. Yes, I get all the symptoms of being allergic when I am over stressed. Rash, nausea, headache, stomache, etc. Panic attack is what it is but back when I first started having these the first thing I thought of was -"I'm allerggic to something!" Ya! STRESS!! (And my AVG anti-virus just found a Trojan horse on my playlist site. Lovely! Just a little jolt to the stress barometer. lol) SO, I have found that music in my ears for even just ten minutes is like a gift from the Gods. It does not let me have room in my head for worrying about my granddaughter, I don't have to listen to my grandson and his yelling, screaming meemees, and the weirdos next door(its a mother, father and daughter but I swear it sounds like they are having a threesome over there sometimes) and the overpowering feeling of WHAT NEXT. Fatalist, I know. But the musice helps. There was Green Onions by Booker T and the MG's, Turtle Bay by Janis Joplin, Soul Sacrifice by Santana and now Lynyrd Skynyrd. Oh, yes! Do you have a safety valve? Something that helps eliminate the weight of a hard day? A nice hot cup of tea? Music? A power nap? A walk? What is it for you?

When I was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, I was SO angry. And to get through it, I got back into listening to metal, with Metallica being my favorite band. Over the years, I've learned that the lead singer, James Hetfield, used music to help him deal with abandonment issues (his father walked out when he was young), leading me to realize how I channeled that anger. It was very therapeutic and cathartic at times (my then-husband couldn't deal with the diagnosis), and helped me get through a lot. Now, any time I'm annoyed or upset, I just go and crank up some metal to help me calm down so that I can handle whatever the issue is.

My favorites are Led Zepplin and AC/DC. Gotta love them!

Thumbs up there! Did you hear AC/DC's latest? Sounds great! And I grew up near Philly-for YEARS, everyone voted Stairway to Heaven as the top rock song! Then they switched it up around 89, 90, and began voting in more modern, heavier music-mostly Metallica.

Well I never thought about stress being part of the issue with what might be causing the added stress and find ways to make it less. Causing a nervous rash could be part of mine besides other factors as well. Like I said find ways to calm yourself like a warm bath and taking time posting in here is a big thing for sure.

Huh? You never thought "about stress being part of the issue with what might be causing the added stress" ? What does that even mean? Calming myself is doable if I catch it early enough. If not it can be bad.

I'd listen to music to drown it out. We have a small dog around here somewhere that yelps sometimes Very annoying.

I have, unfortunately, not had time to release my safety valve for a while but..Today it is open. I am planning a day of mylotting, soaking in a bath, baby time, and anything else that strikes my fancy..LOL. It is so super important to take that time. I had my stress barometer hit an all time high the other day. I had to drive to work in the ice and snow It looked like a movie where the world had ended with the cars sitting abandoned on the side of the road.

To be frank with you,it is the first time I hear of being allergic to stress and it actually follows the usual pattern of an allergy. It stands to reason that the music can take your mind off what upset you and relaxe you.Sometimes I am under the stress,All I have to do is that play the erhu-a Chinese Musical instrument with two strings.

It is as if I am allergic because of the symptoms being similar.

I don't know if I have a safety valve or not. I have many activities that I enjoy. But, it takes a lot to get me out of my head. I have found that sewing will do it. but not something i want to do all the time. Music does quiet things down quite a bit. I have often wondered if that's why these kids today play it so loud. I quiets the voices!

I tend to get anxiety if I wake up in the middle of the night, but only sometimes. I like to use my personal blend of scented oil, which seems to be good both for healing and for relaxing. I lay on my side and breathe deeply. I pray. I try to pray thankful prayers and it really does help. Of course if you believe differently that would not help you, but a lavender, tea tree oil blend seems to heal sores if I have any, and open my sinuses, but it also makes me relax.

Mmmm. Lavender. I have scads of it. It is my all time favorite scent. I also use patchouli(which helps to decongest me), Lemongrass and Amber. I just really got into the music today.
