I Don't Know What To Make Of My Doctor's Letter

As some of you will know, I had a bad experience with my doctor the other week and vowed to change Medical Centres, therefore never would I have to see this doctor ever again. I sent the form at the start of last week.
Now, I've not heard from the new Medical Centre but I did receive a letter from the doctor I have a dispute with. It was grovelling but NOT apologetic. He went on about not being able to discuss my thyroid gland as our conversation was 'diverted onto other things.'
He is leaving it up to me whether or not I make a future appointment but in his bumph it tells me that surgery (hysterectomy) is a last resort so I cannot see the point of seeing him, to be quite honest, as I'm due in Outpatients again in March. However, in October 2015 this Mirena Coil will HAVE to come out by law and I cannot help the fact I have to be 'under' for it to be removed. This is why I didn't want the thing put in in the first place as I envisaged a problem such as the one mentioned below.
Yesterday I had my Pelvic Ultrasound Scan and the lady told me that she reckons the Mirena Coil is out of position. She did stress that she is 'no expert' on the subject. She was just basing it on what she has seen with other patients. She will submit her findings in a report which will go to the gynaecologist department (who referred me there in the first place) and NOT my doctor.
So, you see my dilemma?
Do I make an appointment with my doctor and mention the above or do I wait for the gynaecological department to contact me? The lady said that they MIGHT write to me before the appointment in March, it's all up to them what happens next.
Like I said to the doctor as my 'parting shot.'
"We're going round in circles, not getting anywhere!"

I hate to say it, but at this point I'd be afraid that your doctor would take it as crying wolf because you're being obstinate and trying to find an excuse to get the damned thing out. -_-;
I would probably follow up with the gynaecology department, since they are the ones that will be getting the report from the ultrasound and your doctor has already proven that he's not willing to listen to you like he should. Give them a call, and tell them that you'd like to discuss the results of the pelvic ultrasound with somebody because you're concerned the IUD may be out of position. Even if the results haven't gotten there yet, they should have some way of noting your chart so you receive a callback when they get the report.
If they give you grief about it, just tell them that you're very concerned that it may have perforated your uterus if it really is out of place, and mention the symptoms you've been having.
*hugs* I hope it's not that serious, but if it is, let's hope that it's bad enough that they'll have no choice but to remove that pesky organ. *evil grin*

Haha! Some good points you make there, I shall consider it as an option.

It could mean that the problems you have had with bleeding have been caused by the mirena coil being out of position.
did none of these doctors ever discuss that possibility with you?
If it were me I might wait a little while and see if the gynaecology department contact you, as presumably they would do it quite quickly. if the coil being out of position is the cause of the excess bleeding then that means the cause of the problem is identified, and then can be solved.
It would be worth doing some research on what can happen when the coil if out of position, and if it fits your experience, then I would wait for the hospital to contact you.
however there are a lot of "ifs" in my suggestion, and a solution based on too many "ifs" may not be the right one.

None of the doctors I have seen mentioned the possibility of the Mirena Coil malfunctioning due to it being out of position. I found that out online or in material I was given at the time.
However, I did not go for digital scan which is used for women like me who cannot have an internal examination. Having said that, I was never reminded to actually go on one so I guess it's all down to me, not making an appointment.
I shall see what happens once the report has been sent to gynaecology. Because the coil is only used as an aid to lessen bleeding they may not have to investigate. However, if the positioning of it is actually causing the bleeding then they will have to take a more detailed look..under anaesthetic or not at all, I shall tell them.

I agree dr's can drive us crazy. I was lucky...I wanted to change dr's because I wasn't happy with my present one and I get a letter that she is retiring! Good for her and thanks for letting me find another dr. I have found one and have seen her 3 times and love her. She is so much more on the ball than my previous dr was. If i were you i would go for another dr. It never hurts to get a second opinion. My daughter was also told that hysterectomy was a last resort and she opted for a differeent surgery that has changed her 100%. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Many thanks. I shall wait for the gynaecology department to contact me but if they don't I have an appointment there in March anyway. If I was in pain I'd try to get that appointment moved forward but I'm OK in that regard. One silver lining lol.

I would probably call the gynaecologist department and let them know you are still having problems and would like to try and get in earlier because this is causing you problems...
I'm going back to the pain doc this week and will have to tell them that the neck shots doesn't seem to have helped any... maybe worse...

More about this later..but I've conceded defeat as the new Medical Centre isn't accepting new patients (although, on the NHS Choices website it was saying they were) so I've had no choice but to ring up my Practice Manager.

It's all up to you, of course, but I think if you stay with the current doctor there will always be some underlying tension between you, if not outright animosity.

I agree. I read his letter again and he says that he wants to 'help me' and 'give me the best care.' Well, he should've thought about that before getting on his high horse..and I'm not convinced he was about to mention the thyroid gland at any stage during our little 'chat.'

That doctor is utterly useless to you. I don't know how he is for other patients, but he is not someone you should be dealing with; he has aptly demonstrated that.
Personally, I suspect that he treats all of his female patients like this. I've met some medical "professionals" who held clearly misogynistic attitudes. One particular physician's assistant immediately springs to mind...
