PDF files can contain nearly ANY format which is printable. PDF stands for 'Portable Document Format' and is usually viewable in the Adobe PDF Viewer. That doesn't mean that it can always be copied or transferred to another format, however. If the file contain a table, then it is sometimes possible to export that table to Excel (depending on the permissions allowed by the PDF file format). It isn't always true, however, and you need to know whether the file allows you to do this. If the file is not a table, then you can't usefully convert it to an Excel table (or spreadsheet).
