what is elance?

Elance is an online employment platform where clients can hire professional freelancers to complete assignements/tasks/projects. The freelancer is paid through the Elance website for the completed work. I will explain what a freelancer is in case you are unfamiliar with that term. A freelancer is a person who works for themselves and does not work under contract to any one company. They are "free" to work for as many different companies/people that they want. Examples of those who might be freelancers include journalist, photographers, landscapers, web developers... On the Elance website freelancers have to register and create a profile and I think also a portfolio showcasing their experience/work. If they see a job posted that they want to do they submit a proposal to the client for the job and they are accepted or declined. If they are accepted then they do the work, submit it back to the client for review and paid if it is done correctly.
