Plastic trim

I have a 20 gallon fish tank and it has no plastic trim on it. And I'm planning to put a plastic trim on my tank.
Is plastic trim important to a fish tank?

depends on the tank. for larger tanks, using the plastic trim with the center brace in it, helps to stop the tank from bowing

plastic trim is for the aquarium to look good. it also acts as a boarder to the glass. for me I like to attach a black plastic trim.
