There are four masterpieces in the history of China.THE story of the stone is the most remarkable one.The story is believed to be semi-autobiographical,mirroring the fortunesof the author' own family. As the author details in the first chapter,it is intended to be a memorial to the women he knew in his youth:friends,relatives and servants.The story of the stone is so great,until today there is no any other book better than it in China.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well that is great to hear about this book and i am sure this book would be interesting in terms of its content that has made this book very important and edgy than other books in China. Basically most of the period books have classy content that takes u to a different world when u read them and this is one of them.
