Tap Lamps

I was looking on amazon as I need a bedside table, one with atleast one drawer, and I also need a lamp. I found a sort of bedside table, I mean it can be used as one. It's really a sort of drawer for a baby's room, or atleast that is how it's advertised. It's made out of wicker or something similar to it, I can't really describe it. It has three drawers but I can put things on top of it, such as a lamp. Though that's what I Am worried about, that the heat from the lamp will cause the material to heat up / discolor. It will be a polished wood product, I know. On to my next question. You know those Tap Lamps I am talking about, the ones that have the cute little designs on the glass that makes for the shades? I saw one i liked it was a horse one and I think about $25.00. Before I decide to get it though I am going to look at cvs and walgreens etc, because I think I can get a simple touch lamp for around $15.00 to $29.00. there. Though with getting it through amazon I can pay for most of it with the GC's I have saved up there. Conundrums. To my other question though, those tap lamps with the glass panes, those glass panes can be bought separate and replaced can't they?

I don't know much about tap lamps, but I don't think a lamp would hurt the finish on your drawer/table. Most lamps don't get hot near their bases. If I were you, I'd try a lamp before buying it just to be sure there is no heat near the bottom of it. If you're still not convinced, put the lamp on a scarf or doily or something like that, to protect the table surface. I know what you mean about trying to decide where to buy because I do the same thing with my Amazon GCs. On the one hand, I want to save them and on the other hand, they sure can save me money on things I want and need.

I didn't think that it would get hot, but I am not sure. I think tap lamps have some sort of rubber or cloth material on the bottom of most which helps protect heat from escaping. I have $12.00 on amazon right now, and I could have more provided I'd order another swagbucks gift cad but I am nearly close to the $15.00 amazon gift card so want to wait. Buying from amazon saves me money since I can get the GC's, but it sure is hard to wait and not buy little things like books!

Believe me, I know about that! The last couple of years I've saved Amazon GCs for Christmas and it's hard to hold myself down! I only have $5 there right now because I keep spending it.

I always seem to get free stuff but it's always the one cent books. Wish I could be more like ricki on here as she saves and saves them.

No table lamp should provide heat at the base to damage a top of a bedside table. They usually have a piece of felt stuck to the bottom. However, I do not know if lamps with glass panes can be replaced. Not sure of how that would work. Do you mean the tiffany lamps? If so, then no, you would have to buy a new shade.

Yes they are kind of like the tiffany lamps but with different glass panes, like four or five that go around it. They have screws as they are screwed on. I am sure they can be replaced but not sure if you can just go out and buy new panes or would have to contact the lamp maker etc. I had totally forgot about the felt bottom until I made the discussion. The end / bedside table I plan to get is made out of sort of a wicker material, it has three drawers and is really made for a nursery but I'd use it to put controllers and documents in.

I have a tap lamp--or, rather, have one somewhere at my mother's. No, the lampshade cannot be disassembled and replaced piece-by-piece. If it is ever damaged, I shall be replacing the whole lampshade. However, I likely won't even have the lamp back in my custody until we are in another place; I have no intention of moving any more stuff into this rental.

I think what you and I are talking about are two separate things. The ones I am talking about are similar to the tiffany lamps. I can't find a good link to show you and we don't have one here anymore... Bad experience with landlords?

I do know the sort that you are talking about. The look is a little different, but I think that the design of the lampshade is much the same. I dislike the rental, but I'm dealing with it. There are no problems with the landlords as long as I never have to deal with their dimwittedness. The man is a twit and the woman is a... Well, you get the picture.

So it's not the landlord's themselves other then being hard to get along with.. but the rental itself? The condition and all?
