I understand today is a very important day for United States. But why does the Inauguration have to play on EVERY CHANNEL and for hours before the event takes place? I didn't get to watch any of my normal Monday morning television programs. I understand if they televised the actual swearing in and the speech, but why have we been watching for hours all the pre event stuff?

not only that, with the usa in such financial problems.. why does it have to be such a big money deal? especially for a 2nd term. I can understand for a first time president. But to much was spent for this..

Those people always spend too much money. Those people being the ones in Washington DC. They have proven decade after decade that they cannot come up with a budget let alone stick to it.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes it is indeed an important day for the US but as u have said this event has been blown out of proportion by the media and it would have been better had it not been shown the day before. May be the channels are competing with each other so that they can show this event before and go ahead in the race for publicity.
What say?

I'm really glad the Super Bowl doesn't take over all the stations. Important news sometimes takes over the regularly scheduled program.
