Why cant McDonalds or Burger king hv options for Sweet potato wedges, or grilled asparagus as options to pick from for in the fries section?
Why it has to be french fries only? Maybe they can have some USA fries or Japanese Fries? Why it has to be French fries alone?

I think they're selection for fries depends on the taste hahahah..As per your question about the name of the dish it has an origin though, I have read that the logical explanation for the name is that it derives from potatoes that has been fried in a french manner. The English word "fry" is ambiguous it can refer to both sauteing and to deep -fat frying. While the French "pommes frites " fried potatoes refers unambiguously to deep frying. Some feel that the word "french" in french fries refers to the word "to french" which means to cut in thin lengthwise strips before cooking.on the other hand "to french" refers to " to prepare" as a chop by partially cutting the meat from the shank and leaving bare the bone so as to fit it in convenient handling.in any other case the letter "f" in french fries is usually written in lower case because it does not directly refer to a nationality.
