Compared from the place I used to live and the place where I live now, I can see the big difference when it comes to customer service. I don't want to downgrade my own hometown but it's reality.. For last 2 days we don't have internet here at home (in bucharest), I asked my husband to call his network provider last night. After he told the service staff, almost in an instant we have the connection. Then someone called him to confirm if the problem was solved. While years ago while I was still in Philippines, it took weeks before my internet to connected again, I have to call and visit them constantly. Another example is about my husband's atm card. The bank gave him a new card because his old card will be expiring this month. He then accidentally destroyed his new card so he called the bank at 8pm and after talking he said he will receive another card after 1 week free of charge. So back again in Philippines when I got my atm stucked in atm machine it took me 2 weeks to wait for the bank to release my atm card and my account was deducted for processing fee. Services like these that are just one call away are what every customers dream of.

Good customer service here in the US is a dying art. Nobody cares. You might find the occasional dedicated CSR but usually they really don't care whether you're happy or not with the service. Any service. As long as they get their paycheck, that's all they care about. Of course without the customer they wouldn't have a paycheck but I don't think that thought ever enters their teeny, tiny little brains.

Could be the hardship of surviving this world has to do with this. Like "as long as I'm doing my work and I have work and receive payment, I'm good".

Hmmm.. when was the last time you went home? I have so recent experience when it comes to Philippines services. I went home last Christmas. I was supposed to be back here in Thailand on Dec. 31 but I was held in the immigration in the airport. In other words, I was not able to take my flight back here. I need to process something for OWA Overseas Welfare Administration. OK, then after waiting for the office to send me the necessary documents I went to the POEA I was amazed and amused that it did not take an hour to process my documents (since I have no problem i have obtained my work permit here in Thailand already) then I have my documents needed to leave the country. so they have faster services now in fairness to them. I was really impressed. I never thought that it took a longer time for me to wait for my documents to come than the processing of my documents in POEA. whew.. such a relief...

I was in Philippines last year and we have Globe our internet provider. They are really slow when it comes to cutomer service but very fast in disconnecting if you're not able to pay in time. I even experienced without internet for half month and almost every week I vist their office to ask for an appointment. But with the airport issue, yes they have changed a lot. I don't know about Owwa and POEA but when I was waiting in immigration, I was also surprised how fast and easy I went through.

You are now with a much advance nation compared to your own hometown. Although the development in the Philippines is really fast and amazing it is still nothing compared to a thousands centuries civilizations. Don't get offended accept the fact. Rome was one of the oldest civilization. You owe to be proud your country the Philippine is just a baby compared to Rome but look, it is rising fast.

On contrary to your what you expect, Romania is not so far from Philippines. They have many government workers who are corrupt, and their buildings are old than what we have their like it's from last century. The issue is just how each employee and businesses would treat their customers.

It's good that things are easier for you in your new home. I guess some people have to work on their customer service skills.
