If Delhi is taken to be the nerve centre of India, then 2012 will be remembered as the year of protests in India. The issues ranged from a variety of corruption to the demand for a lok pal bill to violence against women. The most important aspect of these protests were that they were organized without the rallying cry of any political party or organization aspiring to be a political formation, though there were probably deliberate attempts from the parties belonging to the Opposition to take control of those protests but being unsuccessful, they tried to infiltrate in disguise. The protests originated within the realms of civil society and were joined by the rank and file of the society who were so long written off in conventional wisdom as being non- political and passive and now it seems that these people have become conscious of their rights and are willing to stand up for these rights to secure their future. People were tired of being taken for granted by the politicians and these protests attempted to convey something to the entire political class. The sooner the politicians of the country realize, the better is the future of India. Isn’t it?

this does not apply for India only, this applies to all countries. Yes, but will it be beneficial to all really i mean all the protests. Here in our country everytime there is something new, people will just lay down in the street and protest burning effigy. Sometimes these are paid protesters. They are there to protest even if they don't have any inclination of what the protest is all about.. that is just weird, sometimes, the criteria is to bring a child and should be there in most raggedest clothing. Then at the end of the day they are going to get their salary from someone to some where.

Like your country, here also in India, there are professional protesters who are either paid ones or have personal gains in attending the protests. But the recent protests all over the country for the gang rape in Delhi was quite different from the so called protests organized by the political parties to gain their political gains. It was a spontaneous protest by common people who came on the streets with slogans and placards in hands demanding for severe punishment of the culprits. No political party was allowed to get access into this non- political mass protest movement of common people, though some parties tried a lot to infiltrate into it. The reason behind the spontaneous protest by common people was that they could easily identify themselves and their families with the unfortunate victim and her family. Common people have no faith in the political parties which do not care to think for the welfare of common people, on the contrary, only think for their own personal or political gains. This old trick played by the political parties is now an open secret to all. Each and every time after such a brutal act of rape the political leaders shed crocodile tears for the victim condemning the rape and demand for a stern action against the rapist but at the same time, afford shelter to the rapist to the contrary. So, it is now time to change their mentality, if they fail to do so and do not call a spade a spade, the biggest democracy in the world may be at stake. The outrage was also the result of an erosion of faith in the justice delivery system. Law is perceived as impotent in the face of grave injustice. The justice delivery system is so slow that it often arouses suspicion about its existence. So both the government and the political parties should take a lesson from it and act accordingly; otherwise, it might be too late to try for the desired rectification in the near future.

Arvind Kejrival has brought some big names in public leveling charges of corruption against them. I think if Aam Aadmi party come to power in coming 2013 election, only good things are going to happen in Delhi. During December, mass protest against the rape victim held the Delhiites together. Citizen finally fought without any leader or political motives. I urge to Delhiites, cast your vote to Aam Aadmi party. Let's see what this party can do.
