I just discovered Red Dwarf is on Netflix. I hadn't seen the show in years and now I can watch the early episodes, at least, in order. I do have some bootleg DVDs of the show that I picked up on EBay but never seemed to find time to view them.

Red Dwarf i have seen. My hubby got me hooked on the show. He showed me some episodes on tape but now we watch on netflix. I had never heard of the show til we were married a few yrs and he decided to watch some of the tapes of episodes he had. I really don't like British comedy at all but this show is so funny. I love this show. I didn't know too many people that ever heard of it besides me hubby and his best friend. Haven't seen all episodes yet but working on it and hubby says the series is coming back with all new episodes tho not sure when.

The original shows were run on BBC between 1988 and 1993. After a 3 year hiatus, more shows were run in 1997 and 1999. In 2009 there was a three part mini-series (Red Dwarf: Back to Earth) shown on British cable channel Dave. This was followed by 6 new shows that aired on Dave last year. There are now 61 total shows. I don't believe that the Dave shows are on Netflix. (Dave is a network that primarily airs BBC reruns with Red Dwarf being one of their few new shows.)
There was also an attempt at a US version of the show which was to be sold to NBC. The show was different in that the Lister character was not a lovable slob as in the British show. Also in the second attempt at the pilot, Terry Farrell played a female cat. (Farrell soon after that was hired to play Dax on Star Trek: Deepspace 9, which is interesting because Dax was a female inhabited by a symbiote who had previously inhabited a male humanoid.)
