I love going to the Book Sale to buy second hand books. There are a lot of good books there if you will really look hard enough. A friend of mine bought a colored biology book there for only P150 (less than $4). It really is a good find since it’s still in a very good condition. I found some really great novels there.

i go to booksale a lot. i am deliriously happy when i find a book i want, which is rarely, but get sad too thinking how someone could part with it. and i like discovering books i like that i would never have known about otherwise. i like seeing people read and am pleasantly surprised to find out there is someone out there who likes the things you do.

you know what, i know people who buy two copies of a book if they really want it. they open one copy to read and the other copy, they want to keep or preserve it. so don't be disappointed when you see your favorite books on the book sale. maybe the former owner wants to share it with other people.

Funny that you should mention that, when I am in Booksale and see a book I like but do not buy, I usually put it up on the very top of the file or the very front of the line so it would be the first thing people see, and they would buy it and read it and enjoy it. I get such a high from that. I don't get how people hide books they want to read at the back part so no one else can buy it.

That's a good idea because sometimes even older books are in such a good condition that you no longer need a new one. Actually you can save some money if you try to find a good place where you can find good second hand books. You can find those books also which are not published now anymore but are good ones to read. So go for smart shopping and why waste extra money when you can get the same book in the low price.

yes. you just have to check the book carefully if they are still in good condition. if they are, you hit the jackpot.

the economy today is quite unpredictable so saving has become quite a necessity.

Very rarely will I go to a bookstore and pay for a brand new book. I love to hit the thrift stores and garage sales. You can find some pretty wonderful books just browsing. One of our local second hand stores allows you to get a recyclable bag full of books for just $5. I'm getting good at packing those bags. Lol.

Most of the books I have are second hand books. There are some books I want to read that can`t be bought new anymore. In the city where I live there are a couple of streets with quaint little stores with old books. I love to go there and browse books.

I love Book Sale as well, I always go there whenever I got the chance to, and even if I don't have money at that time I'll still go there to look for interesting titles then I'll just return to the store when I have the money. I even got one of my most favorite books for only P25. Aren't I lucky? Haha!
But I do find trouble searching for a good book, because the arrangements of the books are not really good, most of the times the genre would all be mixed up so I don't know which section to go. And most of the staffs in Book Sale always have frowns upon their faces like they hate working there or something..they're not very approachable, so yeah.
How I wish, there would be a public library in my place...I would surely be a devoted visitor if there would ever be one in here.

there's no public library here. i wish the government would invest on it because it will encourage a lot of people especially the children to read.

it's a great idea. students will always have some old books to share to the new students and they can even help buy new ones.

I prefer to buy books new when I can afford to, but I still buy used books a good chunk of the time. It's a great way to get a good deal and a good read. Most used books I find are still in great condition. As long as I can read them without them falling apart, it's all good.
But I prefer to buy books new because I like the idea of supporting my favorite authors and the publishing industry. So when I have money to spend, I'll buy books new.

if a book is a new release, i don't think you can find them in book sale. i remember when the lotr series was re-released through the movie, i immediately bought them.

it really is practical to go buy books there especially if you have no siblings to pass the books to.

I also don't mind buying pre-owned books, or even trading them. I can finish a book in one siting! Anyway, as long as the book is still in decent condition, no unidentifiable liquid stains and no termite marks, then I am willing to buy it especially if its from my favorite author.

i also pay attention to the quality of paper in buying pre-owned books. i hate the yellowish stains in the paper.

i always drop by book sale when i'm out to check out discounted magazines (which i then give to my sister in law after i've read them) and the chicken soup book series for my personal collection. i have 4 now. i'm also on the lookout for humorous travel books to give to my sister.

I love pre-owned books. They have the nice feel of a nicely read book. I like to think that books are tools of adventure and someone else held that tool and went on an adventure. I know, seems childish. I have a childish way of thinking though. I like to think the happy way that children think.

it's a great way of thinking. that someone made a journey with that book and you also want to experience the same adventure.

Friends of The Library, in the USA, have good book sales.
Some libraries have a FREE BOOKS section, such as Bellingham WA USA.
Good Luck.
Have a good day.
