Another discussion we had this morning in our philosophy class was knowing what a wise person is like. Names such as aritotle, plato, socrates and other names came into our discussion and our teacher asked us whether we can still relate to this people because they are from the old setting of our world. Then later she asked us to name the present philosophers and wisemen. The whole class was at silence and our teacher added "how about steve jobs and bill gates?". After a while, one of my classmate mentioned "manny pacquiao".
So, can you name wisemen in today's world?

It would be an interesting discussion in many parts of the world who the wise men are, that we consider truly wise. I have learned that wise men are those who reached a level of maturity in their life, who has full of wisdom that are gained from personal experience, other's experience and those in the Bible. A person may be wise in one area and may be poor in another area of life. I consider a wise man a person who is wholly wise - in all aspect of life, may it be physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Your teacher may be wise in the subject she is teaching but may be poor financially. Steve Jobs or Bill Gates may be wise in economics yet poor in spiritual matters.

We also tackled many aspects and types of acquiring wisdom. So far, we have discussed being wise as a good decision making, being sensitive to being human and having the sense of humane goal. Uhmmm, being wise on all of things might be very hard to obtain, I think being wise at certain aspects in life would already make you out stand in the mobs of people.
