While i was riding home in a public vehicle, there were 2 kids who were holding onto the door side of the multicab- it's normal in our country to have those.. But then when the kids got off at some lace, the smaller one tried to grab the silver jewelry of the one sitting across me. It was quite shocking, i know lots of stuff like that happen in our place, but i never witnessed one. Good thing the jewelry was quite sturdy and the boy didn't manage to grab it...

Unfortunately stuff like that happens all over the world and the age of thieves and pickpocketers drops down every year. I have asked myself many times why this happens and I still haven't found an answer yet. Is it the poverty, is it just the thrill and for sports, I can't say. I can only say it's a pity young children do this...

Yes, most of the cases in my country are the same - all the young thieves have someone above them to force them to steal and pickpocket people, then what's been stolen goes for the boss and only small amounts go to the thieves for grugs and food...

These boys are aware that they could not be jailed for they are still minors and this emboldens them to commit unlawful acts or engage in petty crimes.

Ye, since minors cannot stay in prison for long... some of them go back to prison many times and still do crimes.. The government should just make a law that minors could also be jailed.. like a rehab for them..it's better than being in the streets with no food to eat.

I had an experience when the lady in front of me got her gold earrings snatched by a boy not older than 15 years old ( I think).

Oh that is quite scary.. her ears must have bled.. That is why i do not even wear expensive jewelry when i go out of the house, since it is a hassle and thieves could steal it.. without even caring what would happen to you.

A few years ago a kid on a motorbike tried to steal my shopping bag. He was going quite fast, made a bad catch, and I think he hurt badly his hand. I have never heard of a jewelry taken like this with violence, but pickpockets are very active in public transportation actually, and it would be better to not wear valuable jewelry when using them.

yeah, i do not even own expensive jewelry, just a watch.. and it is hard to grab anyway. Those stuff are quite common in our place, some can even see thieves doing their thing but stay silent about it, since they may have weapons.

I was with my mother in downtown riding a public vehicle-jeepney, when suddenly at our back a guy snathced her both earrings. All of the passengers inside the vehicle specially my mother were very shocked, we were not able to say a word for perhaps 3-5 minutes. My mother's ears were bleeding but she said she doesn't feel the pain, she was more shocked than hurt.

That is very awful.. at first all she would feel is shock, but the pain would definitely come later.. At least you have a lesson learned, to never wear expensive stuff when you ride a public vehicle, since you never know if someone is planning something.

There are thieves at every place and hate them too. Thieves often break into the houses in my city. So I have hid all my valuables at my home in a specially made candles that i got from

Two years old and snatching!!! My goodness! What is happening to our children? What are their parents doing? How could they allow two year-olders to roam around and be street thieves? There is a big chance that they they learn that from their parents who are in that same kind of trade. Tsk, tsk! Calling DSWD!

umh...i don't know what to say because i hate thieves even they are teenage or old. When i was in hanoi, i used to lose my phone while i was driving a motorbike. After that situation, i won't wear any gold chain, or bag when i go out. I used to see many accidents because thieves wanted to get gold necklaces from people driving.

I am afraid it happens Always and it will Always happen. Although there is a big difference. I still can remember I once stole a mars at the supermarket. Not because I needed it but because other children in my class were there also and kind of pushed me into that situation. I only did it once, felt terrible, was about 7 years old I guess :-( After that I never let anyone push me into something I did not like (including my parents) and I prefered to stay alone. Later at highschool there was a group of girls in my class who stole stuff in all kind of shops. Not because they needed it but because of the kick, they did throw it away. One of my daughters stole as well.. she already did it as she was about 3-4 years old. She was just collecting everything under her pillow. I was able to stop that but it was hard. One of my foster children stole too. Just taking an apple from a shop. As I told him to take it back the shopkeeper said: because you are so honest you can keep it. This happend many times (to my opinion you reward the thief this way). I think most thieves are rewarded since they are never caught. Lately the woman from the Chinese shop was robbed by 2 young (about 10-12 years old?) girls. Since she is Always robbed (people also give her fake money) she quit with the shop. By now people are robbed more and more. I think the bad economic is a reason too. Somebody stole my eldest daughter her bag with shoppings plus wallet, a friend her suitcase was stolen on the airport (but the thief did sent her her papers back which were in the suitcase).

those children are able to do it because of the fact that they don't know anymore what to do in order to get money, so they are forced to do the wrong thing like stealing in order to survive. i haven't witnessed one personally too but to see it happening before my very eyes is quite shocking too. yes.

yes, the now criminals are getting younger, as the older ones retire and build their own companies. LOL I mean syndicate. They become trainers of these youngsters..Kids are exploited because of the weak law on juvenile delinquents. They are not punished or put in the jail for they have immunity over laws. Yes, if they are caught they will just be brought to the Department of Social Development and Welfare. A few writing of information about them (half are lies) and then when parents come to pick them up... A little lecture for the parents then they can walk out of the DSWD office happily, hand in hand. There should be a very strong law to give to these delinquents otherwise, we can not stop them from populating themselves just like mushrooms.

Actually it looks like that these kids are being forced to do all this by some boss. May be there's a gang of these so called kids being run by some bigger culprits. They must be thinking that even if the kids get caught, the police will not take them too seriously. Actually some persons target the kids who are homeless and poor and force them into all this stuff and these kids also get ready for this because they don't have anything to do for their living.
