Hi :)
Weird title, eh?
Its been months i have been here and I believe i can well understand the difference between an ESSAY and Discussions.
I do not boast of myself being good in English or whatsoever, but i am sure that i am fairly good enough that most others.
myLot is a place to discuss stuffs. People know this (except newbies). But then again, newbies join this site after knowing what type of site this is. Still i see many people start their discussions as if they are writing an essay in the english examination!!
And some even just put one-liners and expect to earn here.
I do not know of they read FAQs or not, but i think its high time we should help them understand the how and what of myLot.
Who's with me? What are your opinions on this?
I would prefer replying to those users rather than worrying about their post getting deleted affecting my earnings.

I notice some people tend to do this, can't take it out on them, they are newbies after all. And if they do use one liners for a discussion, they can always expand through responding to the comments. If they don't earn, it's their problem. Just let them use that strategy and see if they will realize that they are not using mylot effectively. Once they realize, they will learn and they will stop it especially since it won't help them improve their earnings.

I agree with some of your points. It works only when a newbie starts just 1 post with a one-liner.
And if i was the one newly joined here, and i make suppose 3 to 4 one-liners in one day, there's a chance those posts might get deleted and then i may not be interested to come back here to post another one.
That's why i feel the need to reply to those newbies.
Peace.

You feel responsible for the newbies?
You can help them a great deal by sending them a message or starting a discussion that would attract newbies so they know what to do. A lot of members have already done this and repeated by other members too, because there are many newbies joining everyday.

Yeah i know that too. But i cannot repeat those posts as they will violate the guidelines here.
I personally help them by commenting on their discussions. This is the reason why i made many newbie friends here in less time :)

I had put up a topic almost on the same subject but I got brick bats from several as they had totally misunderstood assuming that I was talking about responses.

LOL. Sometimes we need to be extra cautious so that everyone here will understand what actually we want to convey with our posts.

Even after clarifying by putting comments they just went on and on. Anyway this was a long time ago.

Yes, this site is great for coming here and talking about and sharing stuff. It is also about quality which is something everyone needs to learn. When people first come here they are thinking this is like a lot of the other type forums where a few words is all that is needed and either leave discusted or learn how to post here and stick around for years.

Yeah right. At times, we should be the one to help mylot have all quality posts.

umh, in my opinion, in here, when you post a topic and mylotters can give their opinion about the problem mentioned in your topic. And then you can give your opinion back, it is the discussions between you and mylotters.
And i think even with one sentence or one page replied to your discussion, then you can give your opinion back, as long as the story won't go to the end so fast.
Don't be too strict. We all want to have fun time, sharing, make friends, and finally earning money in here.

I agree with you. But, i think you have got totally wrong concept of this post. I am fine with one-liners. I will surely reply them back. This post is about those newbies who think they can earn here whilst putting up a one-liner discussion which later gets deleted.

The content of the discussion is what matters, not how it brought up in what format. I've seen some that look like an english paper, a couple of mine do even. I have also written and seen some that are just not at all in format that you mention. One liners earn if they bring in detail to the discussion. Its a matter of quality and furthering the discussion no matter how you do it.

Hi there,
I think most of us who have been here for a bit do try to help the new ones out. There are 3 or 4 that are famous for it. Some listen and some don't and some get pretty irate. If I can see that a new person is sincere in wanting to be a part of this site, I will definitly try to offer advice. I know there are a lot of guidelines etc to remember right off. If someone comes in and plagerizes or spams then I don't feel they are serious in being here. The guidelines are sent in the Welcome package. I would think that most would at least take a look to see how this place works and maybe then ask questions.

I feel at least we can do to let those newbies know the guidelines. I did not read the FAQs myself because i did not get much time here to be active. But i learnt from others' posts and style how we should post here.
Mylot is already giving us so much. Now its our turn.

I have had responses deleted coz of some newbies posting discussions that violate the guideline. At first, I felt sad that my response would get deleted. But later on, I figured, it would also be a big help for those newbies to learn more about the site. Coz all of us were once a newbie and although I really didn't ask through a post on how to go around the site, I feel I still need to help others. No longer a problem to me. I enjoy being here.

Yeah. I feel the same as you do friend. I made this post just to highlight because i have seen such discussions which get no response even for weeks. It's not their fault. There must be someone who knows more about the site than those newbies. Only then will they understand.
Thanks.

I once thought that I might help some people here , especially in the question and answer and student interests. However, I grew tired and irritated because I feel like a student that needs to brush up on some some lesson.I am not doing that anymore and for god's sake, there's a search bar above and I hope they try and use it sometime.
I guess the amdin should send an email explaining the TOS or we have an interest especially for newbies regarding this issue. Maybe the mylot interest is already functioning like that but more of like a newbie's corner. Other than that I might blame too much urgency to participate and comprehension skills.

Well said. We can only help them in the start and not in the long run. I am myself not using the search bar so i cannot really say about it. I hope they will understand.
